It took me a while to get comfortable with REVII, but they still feel really clunky.

And I'm loving everything about Red Dead Redemption 2, EXCEPT the clunky, slow moving controls.

I feel like playing hours and hours and hours of MGSV this summer have spoiled me, because that game handles probably the smoothest out of every game I've ever played (BoTW handles HELLA smooth as well, I will say).

It doesn't mean every game out there has to handle that perfectly, but when something is clunky like REVII and RDR2, it's VERY NOTICEABLE.

Anyone else feel this way about RDR2 or REVII, or notice it going from one really smooth handling game to another?

He can criticize the story and the lack of content in the open world, but I know he's not gonna talk shit on how smooth the game handles.

Oh yeah the controls in MGSV are top tier. I don't think I ever had any issue with them or even had any missed/incorrect inputs (like what happens in Ass Creed). And the actions for each button just feel "natural," like they should just be on that button by default (and they are).

...Damn I miss playing MGSV. Might need to pick up a Steam card and grab it outside of a sale >_>

I do think the controls are overall pretty shallow though. 3 had really complicated controls but it added tons of depth to the game. Just playing the game itself was full of secret little tricks. V lets you master its controls nearly instantly, so 50 hours later you don't feel much different, other than item gimmicks.

Nope because metal gear solid 5 is possibly one of the worst games I have played in recent years, not only did it basically completely abandon what made me love the previous games it had one of those most desolate open worlds I have ever seen.

Dont really see what made the control scheme so great either to be honest.

Also I think a worse effect is when you play Super Meat Boy for hours and then try playing any other 2D platformer. Even Celeste which is awesome doesn't come close.

Exactly how I feel. The idea of an actually good game with V's controls makes me most. Too bad it'll never happen!

I never ran out of things to do in MGSV's open world but that's because I was constantly trying to make my Mother Base and FOBs elite. So I was always hitting outposts for soldiers. Always fultoning weapons and vehicles. Always getting medicinal plants.

I really, REALLY wish Konami hadn't fucked about with Kojima because if they'd allowed him to make another game using that system, working out the kinks with their open world... god, they could've made a masterpiece with a sequel. What a shame.

Anyway I wish RDR2 had MGSV's controls. Would be god-tier.

There's always things to do but it's always a grind. Nothing substantial.

Kojima would've needed like 30 years to make the game he really wanted. It would've been impossible even if Konami was super supportive. Hopefully they learned their open world lesson for Death Stranding.

Oh and if smooth controls are what you want then you want character action games. Buttery smooth controls and gameplay are at the heart of that whole flock.

Honestly I want an open world game that handles really well, and I got it with Breath of the Wild, tbh. And it's Zelda on top of that.

I need to re-buy it for the Switch and actually finish the damn game.
