I mean...it got to the point where I'd literally never even considered there was any possible way any of the movies in the series could be good.

My mind had completely just assumed "bad" based on the title over and over and over and it was more or less just an understood fact that any movie under the "Halloween" brand was not going to be good.

This went on for 40 years...why did it take Hollywood 40 years to make some decent movies using what is arguably one if the simplest concepts to get right (crazy slasher guy kills people)?

Because there generally isnt a strong connection between good writing and ticket sales when it comes to horror films unfortunately

It has it's moments, but it's still significantly worse than the original. It is easily the best of the sequels, but that's not really saying much.

Halloween II is an okay follow up so you're already wrong.

And Halloween H20, while not the best, is enjoyable, at least for me.

4, 5 and 6 are bad and Ressurection isn't good but it gave us, "Trick or treat, motherf***er." So I'm okay with that.

That said, I really like the new movie.

tbh, I enjoyed Resurrection more than a lot of the other sequels.

lolwut? Overlooking that the 80s was one of the most prolific times for horror, the 90s were alright both for horror and non-horror (Pulp Fiction, Jurassic Park, etc)

yeah part 2 was actually a continuation of the first one. it start off right when the first one ends. I have to say that's pretty cool. its kind of dumb this new movies doesn't take that movie into account.
