I can confirm this. Every morning when I drop my kid off at school I see dozens of the ugliest damn people you can imagine, dropping off their kids too. It's both men and women, and it's an elementary school so most of the kids are less than 10 years old.

My parents split up for a bit over a year. My stepdad brought home a 23 year old woman. I was impressed. I asked him how that went about and he said "I just asked her. Hell, the worst that's gonna happen is she says no."

That stuck with me and is a great thing to remember.
