They sure are great year round vehicles. I'm more a Mitsubishi guy ( Evo , eclipse/talon 1g,2g Gallant ) but Subaru are great overall vehicles.

Ugh. One of my exes had a talon and the first thing we did to it was put a longer clutch cable and a racing pedal on it because the damned clutch shouldn't have been so damned high in a car so low...I always hated driving it because if the fucking spoiler that always looked like a truck's brush grill in the rear view mirror. And the transmission cover half forced you to sit sideways in the seat...Jesus I hated that thing.

...and the more I read that CL ad, the worse it gets. It's a fractal of bad information. He opens with bone stock, and then literally contradicts that line item with every. Single. Line item after that.

I'd bet my ass, hat, and gloves that thing was in a major front end collision, possibly with a rollover and it's 50/50 that thing is on a salvage title. He swears the frame is square, but no true king has to say "I am the King" and despite all the work, the steering is still wonky and the moonroof is broken. That's even more of a red flag than the mismatched body panels and the stripped interior.

I'm... actually fascinated by this CL listing since the more I look at it, the worse it gets... especially with the one picture that wasn't taken at the same place, or on the same day as the rest of them.

Correction, two pictures from a different day and place...

It just keeps getting worse with every viewing.

Well I was going to bed, but then I got an email (my phone tells me) and I logged on to check. Got a response back from this add selling a 2009 scion xb. It's a bit over the recomended KBB price, but it looks pretty good.

Here is the listing. This might be a good option, but I emailed him asking the length in the back with the seats down as the car looks pretty small. 28 mpg on the freeway would be very nice, and it has alot of horse power for going up mountains etc.

It's automatic as well, and even though it has 150k miles, it's a toyota so it should last along time still.

That is a pretty decent vehicle, but the low ground clearance may be a problem and yeah, the back is pretty short. Otherwise, not a terrible vehicle, but keep in mind that it's not a true Toyota. Scions were made with off the shelf components from Toyota, Mitsubishi, and iirc the lights were usually BMW.

The upside is that parts for most Scions aren't in short supply.
