All three strikes were completely in the zone. The fastball called ball 2 was probably a strike as well.

I'm sorry that most teams (like my Brewers) lack the financial resources to compete with the teams that buy wins in baseball. Not every team has the payroll to compete with the Red Sox, Yankees, Giants, Cubs, Dodgers, Cardinals, etc.

If you want Boston to stop winning, you have to want true parity in Baseball, where every team has a level playing field and winning isn't primarily determined by how much your owner is willing to spend. The same teams are always in or near the postseason every year, and then there's one or two teams that have the lower payroll (and generally smaller market) that actually build a good team without spending huge amounts.

Do you want true parity in baseball, or do you just want a world where your large market/payroll team still wins and Boston loses? It's not often that you can have both.

if you've experienced your team winning a championship in your sentient lifetime, or at least within the last 15-20 years, I really think you have no right to be so angry about other teams winning. Upset your rival won sure but come on man. This is painful to watch. As a NY Giants fan, I can safely say every year we suck I'm like yeah meh whatever. I can't be too upset when I have nice recent memories. Even with the Eagles last year, sure I didn't want them to win but I feel no real ill will about football. I'm content.

I forever live in baseball despair. And probably will forever. It's an awful feeling. Also payroll numbers are smudged usually. I didn't look at the link, the Mets are probably highish up it but that's because its counting the insurance money the Wilpons are not re-investing.

I didn't really start getting upset at the Red Sox until they played New York, New York and I realized they based their entire playoff hashtag around us as well.

They remind me so much of Tottenham that it makes me sick.

Well, they couldn't even play each other in the postseason until 1995. So it's really a 23 year history.

Edit: Adding on to that, the Yankees only have 2 wins over the Red Sox in postseason series. So they're even unless there was a tiebreaker game sometime before 1995.

Also they have been division rivals for a while and they didnt always do playoffs the way they do now, and LCS isnt even 50 years old. Theres more history soaked in besides playoff series especially considering what a division/league win has meant over the years.

In 98 the Red Sox lost to the Indians in the ALDS. The Yankees won the division handily so there wasn't even a tiebreaker game.

IMO it depends on if the thing that happened is a legitimate thing to be upset about. If a team meeting wigs' criteria got legitimately bad calls and got screwed by refs in a championship and lost the game because of it, those fans still have a right to complain during the aftermath. Bringing it up a while later is where it starts to get pretty grating. Like it sucks, but just move on.

I'm seething over this no matter who it happens to because its a garbage call anyway. It makes me mad as a baseball fan that this call unfolded this way.

In general though, I'm saying when your team has had some level of success recently I find it harder to get mad about other teams, even your rivals, gaining an advantage like that - unless of course you mean it from a purely baseball perspective, not a "because I hate this team" perspective. Let's face it. You wouldn't be as mad if this happened in Dodgers/Brewers. You're mad because it's the Red Sox and you don't want them to have success. I'm saying your team has had recent success , so while you'd all still be mad like geez , just enjoy the successes you DO actually have, don't take that for granted. I guess that's easy to do when y'all are in the playoffs every year

I do understand why this year stings so hard for Yankees fans. This was supposed to be their year, and their rival stole it away from them. But as a Yankee fan myself, I'm just not bothered by it anymore. Although in my case, as I get older, I'm realising more and more I'm a baseball fan more than I am a Yankees fan. And I should have been a Mets fan considering both my parents are. But how could any kid born in the 90's not fall in love with the Yankees?

And I was born into mine in a sense. I think at the end of the day it worked out. I've enjoyed watching the Mets since the late 90's even though I'm not a fan of the team. But it's fun to follow both teams.
