My friends and I use to skip all the time. It was a lot of fun, though. I had a lot of electives and things that didn't always require me to be there... But what about you all, PotD? Did you guys skip school. Or do you, for the ones that still go? Did you have any specific reasons, or did you just not want to go? Did you skip alone, or with friends?

I doubt there are many people who skipped as much as me and graduated, 3 years early (on my 16th birthday to be exact).

Started a year late (was in Putney Vermont when I should have started), skipped all of 4th grade (just didn't go), moved forward anyway cause I was tested at 12th grade + on math/reading comp. Skipped half of my freshman year of HS and transferred to a private school instead of to a continuation school like they wanted me to.

They had a pace program, which involved filling out work books and taking tests, so I did all of it in half a year, graduated with a 4.0 and didn't use the scholarship I earned to go to college (cause I thought school was worthless).

Net result is I graduated having only gone to school for 7 years:)

That is alot of skipping:)

No. Well, once.

The reason I never skipped is because I faked sick, which i dont consider skipping. i think that means having no intention of going in without any approval.

one time i decided to wake up, cut my grass before school(i dont know...) and ride my bike there and show up randomly at 10:30AM.

I dont know why I did that but I did just go into whatever class was happening at the time. i got three detentions, one for each period i missed.

8th-11th grade i skipped now and then when i was in too bad a mood to go. Senior year if i knew a certain one of my friends wasnt going to be there then there was no point in me going so id skip then.

I also often overslept and missed a good chunk of first period should that count.

Home schooled on a space ship though? Is that actually a thing?

I "pulled a sticky" a few times. I also skipped lessons. Mostly P.E until I eventually stopped going at all. My final year report for P.E was "this person hasn't attend any lessons this year". I saw no benefit in playing pointless sports.

I guess. Though, I know a lot of people who still consider it skipping...

I think I only skipped once in 11th grade and started to do it a lot my senior year. I guess I would also add a day that I skipped every year on my birthday starting like 7th grade, I believe...

My friends and I usually arrived to school at the same time, so we could decide then. We also wouldn't go to first period if we were late. And sometimes, we ended up not going the whole day. Our rule was to not go to school if we skipped any classes. If would seem that you would always get caught trying to go back to school...

They may or may not be a person on this board who was home-schooled on possibly on a boat or spaceship...

Ah. So just specific classes. Where did you go? Just around the hall or to like another class. We had some teacher that would basically let you skip your class by going to their classrooms during other classes sometimes. I remember walking the hall with my new (and possibly drunk, high, or both) friend. I had seen him before, but never interacted with him until that day. We became close friends after that one skipped class where I just roamed the halls with him.

Skipping for the sake of skipping, never; but I was a sick person (always sick). I think I only attended about half the year for grade 6.

Yeah I was close friends with two of the teachers at my school, would just txt them and they'd come pull me out of whatever class to "help" them with something. Which usually meant going out to the parking lot, sitting in their car and smoking.

If you mean straight-up ditching, never. My folks wouldn't have tolerated that shit while I was in middle or high school and once I got to college I wanted to get every cent of my money's worth.

That's a confusing story with a kinda ridiculous ending. Did you ever regret not taking that scholarship?

I skipped precisely one class in high school. I don't even remember the exact reason why but it was in my last semester of Grade 12 and that particular day I had just had enough.

University, though? I skipped lectures all the time. Not typically because I didn't want to be there but because my degree involved a metric fucktonne of work and I frequently was up into the early hours of the morning doing homework and it turns out there's only so many nights in a row you can do that before your body just completely shuts down and refuses to get up.

That said, the lectures were optional and my friends and I had a standing agreement that if someone missed class we would let them copy the notes and bring them up to speed, so that solved that issue. Hell, at one I had an absolutely atrocious chemistry professor and a person in the same program as me who was one year ahead of me gave me a full set of notes for the course. I attended precisely three lectures for that course as a result: the first one, the one immediately after the midterm, and the last one. Got an A in the class to boot.

I didn't go to classes I didn't want to when I knew I could get away with it.

I skipped lunch despite their best efforts to seal off every possible escape route. I solid snaked my way out of that. I never got caught until I got some guy buddying up with me, he was too loud to sneak around with.

I had similar problems the winter I was 14, though they began after a fall downstairs. I think I only ever skipped a class once, when I was too distressed from being bullied all day to go, and school altogether on purpose just once.

Well, yeah, but I think skipping school is very different from skipping classes in higher ed. School is generally compulsory and your parental figures get in trouble if you skip too much. College or uni, it tends to be your own money & time you're wasting so they just flunk you.

There was one semester where I had just one class on Tuesday/Thursday that was just 50 minutes long, so there were a few times I didn't go to school. But I never skipped both Tuesday and Thursday in the same week.

I faked being sick a few times, but only once did I actually "ditch" school. I got dropped off in front of the school, just said "Ugh, I can't handle school today" and kept walking. I walked a couple miles down side streets until I got to a bus stop and then went to Disneyland.

And nobody at school missed me.

I didn't start skipping school until my senior year. I drove a 55 Chevy 4-door Bel Air and my girlfriend went to another school. We'd skip once a week or so to have alone time.
