More Falcom, this time the hard rock style Ys-esque kind I'm a lot more fond of! This sounds like more of that "sampled fake guitar" again (which is usually fixed on the Falcom arrange albums), but it works with this so I don't mind. Nothing actually too special here in comparison to a lot of Falcom, but it's the typical "FL likes this style" genre. One really cool thing I will point out is that I love how it fades into the second loop around 1:43 in.

I'm kinda surprised I'm not close to eliminated yet. I was hopeful for Suspenseful Third Day, and thought Ransacked might do well, but Okatsu and Treasure Map Boss Fight still being alive is a pleasant surprise.

The first song nominated for my topic! (whenever I booted up the playlist in my media player, this is what would start playing automatically) This one has a very "wild west" feel to it, very "dark" and "mysterious". My favorite part in this is just after a minute in, where it goes from that cool drum beat to the synth instruments. Certainly digging the feel this is going for.

Back when I was running the topic for the nomination phase, I was playing a bunch of Suguri/AoS (haven't played Sora yet though), so you could say I already had my palate adjusted for this type of music! I've never really been big into EDM, but this style of Trance music by DJ Deku is probably my favorite in general, not just in VGM (although the Umineko soundtrack is probably tied with this). I'm actually not as fond of this track as most others from this series, but it's still really good (Enough for rank 36!) This has grown on me since initial listen, a lot catchier than I recall it being.

This has a really groovy beat to it. This is definitely sounds like it's a Nintendo DS song, and with the right soundfont it can make some really great music. Also, I just noticed right now, but it's pretty cool how the sound pans left/right on my headphones. My favorite part of this has to be how the drums are used in this, especially around 1:08 in the song where there's that melodic transition. As I have discussed earlier, in the last VGMC, songs that are repetitive but also super catchy are some of my favorites.

The last (best) of Prody's two-minute long rhythm game tracks! Really cool intro on this song, pretty catchy all throughout, and like the last one of these, this one totally works as a short song. Gotta love the sound effects used in this song. Midway through it suddenly shifts to the sad piano portion, and I'm not really sure if I love it or hate it, but it picks back up pretty soon. Good song.

Wow, this one sounds really cool! Man, I really love the instrumentation in this, such a powerful feeling to it! This has such a sense of vastness to it, completely enthralling the listener in its powerful chords. If I were just ranking based off of the instruments and soud effects used, I might even put this somewhere in the top 10. This has a really unique sound that I was never expecting to hear in this ranking! If I had to deduct points anywhere on here, it'd be that the song sounds like the composer decided to throw together as many cool sounding sounds as possible until it would work as a song rather than just having this planned out from the start, but even then I can't really say that's a bad thing. Very much liking this one!

Ooh, fast kinda technoey piano, but done in the fast piano style I really like and not that "rhythm game style fast piano" that I'm not quite as fond of (although Deemo does this kinda thing really well)! Piano is one of my favorite instruments, but it has to be fast (like this) or the sadvnsong.mp3 kind that's emotional. Exciting, fast-paced, upbeat, you know how it goes, I like this kinda stuff.

Here's a really weird song, but weird in a cool way. Biggest impression this is leaving on me is that it kinda sounds like an old VGMC participant I wasn't initally fond of (relistening to it, it's actually a pretty good track too).

Back to the song in question, it's really cool how it seemlessly meshes together the "cool weird sounds" with the hard rock electric guitar into its own unique thing. Funky/jazzy/metal/electronic, sounds like lots of genres mashed together here, which is something I always look forward to in a new song. This is a really fun track all around.

Two of deo's songs in a row! I actually spent a good while deciding whether to place this or the previous song here, 30 and 31 are pretty interchangeable as far as how much I like them and on another day they could be swapped in my ranking. Right when writing this up, I also noticed that this is also 2 minutes long, so in a way this is actually the best ranked Prody song here (?)
Anyways, this just checks a lot of the boxes in what I like in a trance track: fast, melodic, and upbeat. Pretty catchy, and doesn't overstay its welcome, nor does it really try to be too complex, it just does what it set out to do.

Ah yes, Go Shiina, this composer has in recent years become one of my favorites thanks to VGMC! The most notable aspect of this track that stands out to me, is that weird audio filter placed over this that makes it sound like it was recorded underwater or something. It does sound a bit off, and normally I'd deduct a whole bunch of points for just that, but it kinda works in this one giving it a sort of cool sound to it. I dunno though, maybe it would be better without it, I can't say for sure. Really super-cool instrumentation in this, as expected from Go Shiina, especially digging that woodwind instrument 1:20 in. This is another one getting its high ranking from how much of a unique sound it has going for it. Kinda bummed out how it just ends pretty abruptly and is shorter than I would've liked it to be.

In a curious twist on sadvnsong.mp3, today we are featuring happyvnsong.mp3! Whenever I listen to this, it reminds me of the Route 209 theme from Pokmon, probably because how it's a more "emotional" sounding track, but in the uplifting sense rather than being melancholy which we usually see here (also those drums). Definitely a nice style that I'd like to see more of in VGM! This is quite pleasant to listen to throughout the song, then when it picks up about 2:28 in it gets really good. Unrelated to the song itself, I also like that background image of the airplane used in this video. ;>_>

Really cool Japanese instruments in this, much like Dire's earlier MH nomination, although I feel this one is a lot more exciting! In a way, this one kinda sounds like something out of SoulCalibur. This is easily better than anything else I've heard from the Dark Souls/Bloodborne style games. Favorite part of mine in this is that cool instrument that shows up 34 seconds in. Pretty simple melody, but the overall sound to this makes it. This is the kind of music I wouldn't mind hearing over and over again while I keep dying to whatever boss this song plays for in the background.

PC-98 FM synth has quickly become one of my favorite VGM styles as of late (it's been a few years now actually, hasn't it?) Re-listening to this now that I'm this far into ranking, this is a lot more repetitive than I remember it being (knocked it down a few spaces already, might have it down a bit further if I redid this list). Still, I really like the abrasive FM synth sound this has that so many old school PC-98 soundtracks manage to nail so well. A lot of Genesis/Megadrive VGM manages to pull it off too, but it seems a lot more consistent on the PC-98 to me, whereas with the Genesis it feels like a lot of people composing for it didn't know what they were doing ;>_>
Anyways, really cool intro and outro to this one, mid section feels like it could be shorter

WOAH WHAT is that glitchy-sounding instrument playing throughout the song?? I am so fixated on it, it's the coolest sounding thing in this entire list and the main reason I have this song ranked so high (I wanted it even further up, but the next songs are sooo good ffsfsfsdsads). Admittedly, all I knew about Ar Tonelico music before hearing this were all those EXEC_whatever/. tracks from the VGMCs (which are mostly amazing btw), but this is also really good! Real sleeper hit I guess. Man, Gust always has really great music, and right when I think I've heard it all, something else really new and cool and extraordinary pops up and blows my mind.

Vrtra is really good, yeah. My favorite not-hymn battle theme from AT2.

BOST1's AT2 only had SPHILIA, the rest were not-hymns. The Second Tower, Moon-Dwelling Demon, Mechanical Maze, Waltz of Gears, and Goddess's Footprints. Rustling Throb ~Cloche~ too, but I guess you could call that borderline because while it's not an EXEC song it does feature hymmnos.

I'd definitely give AT2's whole OST a look though, especially if you really liked Vrtra. VGMC mostly has the hymmnos songs because whenever I go elsewhere it gets no traction, but the whole OST is amazing.

Man, I just love that intro! It has a really funky rhythm going for it that I just love. This kinda reminds me of the Driftveil City music (another Pokmon track that I'd rank roughly in the same area as this one). I'm also loving the instrument choice on this, pulling off stuff that wasn't really doable in the earlier games (and the remakes' music all feels flat to me, bunch of lost potential). Mainline Pokmon series music is still great to this day.
