I looked for it in a couple of supermarkets and couldn't find it

But I saw a lot of different smoked oysters on sale

I loved eating those out of the tin, they tasted great

No, when you find that brand, you find that brand. A lot of times, there's no turning back, like BBQ sauce, or apples.

I have strict taste in a few name brands and won't stray from them.

Raw, they are incredibly slimy. Almost like trying to eat thick phlegm, actually. And that's not an exaggeration. The flavor also is something you acquire a taste for - it's incredibly "seafood-y"

Cooked, they are not as slimy. Oysters firm up and become a little bit less seafood-y in smell, but more pungent somehow.

Smoked, though, they are nice and firm but the smoky flavor mixes with the seafood flavor really well

That all being said, I prefer mussels to oysters 100%
