All I remember about it is a some-odd story I didn't care about, and the reward for doing fetchquests just being more fetchquests.

Yeah, the sidequests often sucked, but the world, battling and DLC were all pretty above-average for the studio's first at-bat (pun).

I don't expect much beyond a round of barely-remastered "remasters" on PC, all the consoles, and probably also phones.

My main problem was that after a few zones, if you tried to do everything there was before moving on, you'd each the level cap, and then there was no more character progression.. So after a few more zones of not getting stronger and destroying everything, I just rushed the rest of the main story without bothering with the side stuff.
But I still enjoyed the game a lot.

You're right about the level-capping regions -- that definitely dissuaded exploration. Perhaps that could be fixed if a remaster ever comes 'round.

They could have made the level cap higher for the main character and for every region, for some challenge, and actually allow you to keep leveling until the end. Oh well, might look it up if they release another game (or even a remaster)

I really like THQ Nordic. They've been buying up small studios and dead franchises and actually plan on doing something with them. We're getting Darksiders 3 soon, they're probably working on a Red Faction game, and they recently got the license for TimeSplitters and Second Sight, so we can expect those within the next few years. I really liked KOA and I hope they do something with it soon.

It was boring. My non-videogame-RPG-playing friend recommended it to me because he said it was awesome, so I picked it up and I felt like I was playing an MMO by myself and it felt grindy and empty and large and traveling took forever.

pretty much how i felt about it too. Was the most generic mish mash of different games ive ever played.
