It looks closest to 8 so Im sorta interested in it as thats the only DQ I could get into

the kotaku review is quite enthusiastic, calling it the best in the series

WE'LL SEE. VIII is definitely my favorite so maybe this one continues on with the slightly more story-oriented trend

Looks like the biggest complaint in the reviews is that it doesn't innovate enough (which is sort of missing the point of Dragon Quest imo...!)

Polygon review of Dragon Quest 11 is interesting because you can tell it's a guy who doesn't like classic jrpgs and he's basically just like this is bad because it's a jrpg and does the things that jrpgs do
