I live in a small apt and wouldn't mind getting a pet. I'm leaning towards lizard or butterfly. Do you own any of these pets?

Ours know our names and each others'. It's really weird having a pet that can call you.

I have a couple friends who have birds. The birds just kinda walk around and climb stuff. Even with their dogs around. I had a bird when I was younger. I've been thinking about getting another. But maybe once I move or something...

Cats require little work and you can bond with them on your terms.

-Put food and water in a bowl once a day.
-Clean litter box once a day.

That's less than a minute of work per day.

And they usually don't care much about what you do. They might come up to you on their own, but you can turn them away if you don't want them. But anytime you want a droopy-spined fuzzball to play with, you can just go pick it up and it probably won't care either.

Other animals don't have an off button, whether it's them forcing themselves on you, or making lots of noise. But cats typically don't meow much or jump on you; you choose when they do.

Ok seriously, I'm in the exact same situation as you and I got a bunny and it was the best decision i could have possibly made. This thing smells great, she's super nice and lovable, loves to hop around and play, but also just flops out on the ground; it's ON DEMAND cuteness like whenever you just wanna grab something and stuff your face into its fur you can do that; they are SUPER cheap, like I buy one giant bag of hay and it lasts for a month and that is technically all you really have to feed them (greens and carrots are ok in moderation), and it lasts for up to 9 or 10 years. It is low maintenance: it poops and pees in its litter box so no messy cleanups, and it doesn't bark or squawk and piss you off in the middle of the night.

Literally the only con to having a bun is that this thing fuckin dies so easily like if you give it a couple of gummy bears the thing is fuckin dead gg

I have literally no trouble finding a million vets that care for rabbits near where I live. They aren't even exotic enough to require a specialist vet, honestly. Most vets I talk to are like "yeah rabbits are easy, bring her in". And pooping a lot isn't a big deal because their poops are tiny little spheres that are very easy to clean up and don't smell bad at all. It takes at least a week before her litter box needs to be changed, which takes like 5 minutes to do.

Dog an apartment. Do you like to go for walks? If not you shouldn't get one cruel to lock it in an apartment all day.

Cat are always a solid option.

Fish expensive initially. Water changes can get old quick and having a small aquarium really just limits you to a few small fish. Bowls are cruel.

Bird nastiest dirtiest animals ever.

Bunny I think I heard you can litter box train them. Otherwise you're looking at one big ass cage.

Snake boring and rarely move aside from when they eat once or twice a month.

Lizard crested geckos are the easiest to manage nocturnal and the base diet is a powdered mix. Most lizards are going to require live food and they can be really expensive to start, especially for diurnal lizards which need uvb lighting.

Butterfly I don't think these are a pet. I remember the caterpillars but I thought you were supposed to release them once they became butterflys.

Mhm. Look at all of these predictable choices. Dog? Cat? Bird!? They're all so... BORING! Not to mention I'm all but certain that birds work for The Devil. No, dude. You want something else as a pet. Something unique, out of this world and powered by batteries.

Yes I'm talking about a Tamagotchi, friend. They're the perfect pets. Feeding a poo clean up are just one or two button pushes away. You can play games with them and can take them anywhere due to their very small sizes. Finally, if you don't feel like being responsible anymore, you can put them on pause and they'll stay that way consequence free until you're ready to give a crap about them again. If that doesn't sell you on choosing them over some bunny that'll just poo out Cocoa Puffs pieces that don't taste the slightest bit like cocoa (I hear >.> ) then I just don't know what will.

Sure, if it's like, a beanie baby or something.

I have an actual bird (a cockatiel), and here is what he needs

- He eats food, which means I have to buy more every so often. Also I can't give him just random store-bought seed because he requires Nutrition, and has gotten sick before from bad seed.

- He is a social animal who requires entertainment not just in the form of toys, but also interaction with people, and doesn't like to eat alone. He also loves music and other bird sounds.

- He's a bird. He poops, molts, and throws food. Also cockatiels are one of those species that are perpetually dusty to the point it looks like it's snowing when they shake their feathers.

- He goes to the vet for annual checkups and anytime something seems wrong enough to worry me. Bird vet visits tend to cost quite a bit more than dog/cat vets, as avian medicine is a particularly specialized field, but it's very much necessary; I would've lost this one a long time ago (and in a quite horrible way because digestive issues) if I never took him to the vet.

He also gets LOUD. I'm sensitive to noise and would probably not want to be around him so much if I didn't love him as much as I do. Different types of birds have different noise levels, and this is especially important to take into account for an apartment where you might have neighbors banging on your door threatening to kill your bird if it doesn't shut up (or worse, roommates who could easily do more than just threaten; hopefully you wouldn't get one who would, but sometimes people do end up with really bad roommates).

Dude this thing hears me go to the fridge and comes running from wherever she is hanging out. I snap my fingers and she jumps up on the couch with me. I give her pets and then put my face down next to hers and she gives me kisses back. If I put her down in a new spot, like if I put a bunch of boxes around or something, it "unlocks" that area in her brain and she knows she can go there next time. She's almost as smart as a cat, but WAY smarter than say a mouse or something. Just get a Dwarf rabbit cause they're smarter and easier to pick up and handle
