ep. 7 was the best it's been since the first episode. the ddu-du ddu-du practice segment was surreal, holy shit. it slowly turned into like a waiting for guffman-esque mockumentary, and the whole time i kept asking 'how'd things get this far?'. seoyoung must be insanely charismatic in person, because people keep listening to her and making her leader despite what a bad idea it is. i would watch an entire series where they drop leader seoyoung onto unsuspecting teams. actually, everyone on that team had a strong comedic role. i don't even know if it was intentional, but bibian deadass turns to the camera at one point and i lost it.

Why? I'm sure it costs money but you may not get the chance again. If they're a band that you really like and you don't think you'd normally ever see them in your home country, then I say take the opportunity.

Of course, if it costs too much money, it's hard to justify anything. Depends on how much you have and how much you think the once-in-a-lifetime event is worth.

I figured they were just photoshopping those double eyelids on there because it doesn't seem like it'd be too difficult but I was (probably) wrong.

I definitely know that, for some reason, Korean beauty standards often idolize that double eyelid look, but I thought the only way to get it if you weren't born with it was through surgery. I am now shocked. Seems like tape would be easier to notice than it is. I guess if you're looking for it you can still see it on a close-up shot... but otherwise, it's hard to see.

omg the reactions in the room when miyu's rank was announced ;_; and i guess she was too emotional to give her speech so they recorded one later.

i pretty much knew which of my faves were going to be out, but i had hopes for noe and minami. minami had so much to gain from being there esp. as the only kenkyuusei in the competition, but it's been a good run and her future is bright. i'm sad that the voters didn't seem to take noe seriously, because she's a good performer on top of being funny. i hope NGT48 gives her the centre for one of the b-sides on the upcoming single after this.

right, let me try to articulate what i like about miyu:

- You're right that she's not a vocal powerhouse, but the appeal is more in her artistry, and vocal tone. I dig her stylistic choices, and was obsessed with her youtube channel for while (which btw has quadrupled in subscribers since PD48 started and is now at 120k!). I don't see her as a main vocal candidate like the ones you listed, but I love her singing. Plus she does arrangements, writes her own songs, and plays three instruments.
- She has a good underdog story. She was acknowledged for her talents even at age 13 and originally pushed as 9th gen's ace, but for one reason or another, possibly because she was too young and wasn't ready, couldn't grab the opportunity and fell by the wayside. She never ranked once in SSK, and participated in all of 2 A-sides in 9 years. There's a romantic notion to someone quietly honing their craft without recognition for 9 years out of shear passion for music, and it's so much better to see it pay off.
- She does everything:

On a related note, I liked when she brought up how she arranged the song for the audition performance. Her introduction video was similarly great, where she played a self-composition, then listed her many skills. She knows her capabilities, and is ready to prove herself. She's definitely not the only one, but you can really feel how much she wants this. She uploaded a cover video on the day episode 2 aired which I thought was such a hot strat, though she didn't end up doing it every week (still uploaded 3 more covers, though). Plus she put a strong effort into learning and communicating in Korean. It's hard not to be invested in her success when she expressed that this is the happiest she's been in 9 years of being an idol after getting recognition for her audition performance.
- I like her personality. She's a calm, reliable presence, and always thinks what's best for the team.
- She's actually a good dancer. It shouldn't be surprising given her 9 years of theatre stages and her background in ballet, but some people don't expect it for some reason. Maybe it's her singer-songwriter vibe. But yeah, she's great in her Nekkoya focus cam and in the See You Again practice video.
- She has a lot of endearing quirks and talents from variety show stuff I've seen, though this is really an advantage inherent to the entire 48G side.

- Minor thing, but it's part of her whole vibe: I like her personal style (vintage clothes, and a massive earrings collection). It's very distinct.

- i'm glad they're finally showing more of sian's comedic side. it was her thing on idol shool, but she keeps getting shackled with serious plotlines on pd48.

I knew I liked Hwasa's voice, but I had never heard it isolated like this so clearly and for so long. And her stare should be illegal on account of being so dangerous. Looks like that will break a lot of necks.

She hits a sour note at 3:25-3:28 and the production left it in. Strange. But the rest of the song is so killer so who cares. It's not that noticeable on first listen.

Haven't heard a rapper that I like as much as Loco either.

Taking a listen to Solar's solo releases tonight. To be honest, given what Mamamoo has been releasing since Melting and what her voice is capable of, I did not expect these soft comforting songs. I expected much more bombastic, pop influenced stuff.
