For starters, I haven't cried since December. I was the happiest I've been in YEARS in April, but ever since May I've been depressed and it just keeps getting worse and worse. I feel like I can't connect emotionally to people or things anymore. I don't know what to do.

Sounds like manic depression, but I could very well be wrong.

Perhaps you should consult some kind of licensed therapist.

Sometimes the brain just poops out for a bit. It could be any number of things and without sounding like a broken record and giving the same advice over and over, I'll try to be different here and say to make your time worthwhile. Do things that you think mean something. That may be hard to figure out, but taking a day or two of constructive introspective thinking (don't just navel gaze and self-depricate!) can help you to find a focus.

Did you cry so often before to really take note of it? Because excessive crying can be a cause for concern as well.

Seeing a psychologist might be a good start.

But also, yeah, therapy. I don't think any of us are qualified to give you the tools you want lol

Funnily enough, it all started going downhill after I had to help a bipolar friend of mine going through an intense manic episode. She was in the hospital for a very long time :( I kind of regret being the one who took her there, but I know for a fact it was the best thing to do.

I mean, I cried once every few weeks maybe. Maybe every other week. So not having a good cry recently has been in the back of my mind.

This might sound silly, but I'm really really embarrassed about doing this and don't want to tell my parents about what I am going through.

Well, I don't think you should bottle it up and let your condition fester until it starts to seriously affect how you live your life.

Do you need to? Can't you seek one out yourself? If not then it's best to let your parents know so you can get help. You don't need to tell them every detail. One thing's for sure keeping it bottled up won't help and your friends will only get you so far.

If you're currently a HS or college student, your school likely has resources available.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what their insurance plan is like although I imagine it'd be hard to use their plan to see somebody without them knowing about it. Of course, if you're on your own policy, you can see whoever you want without them knowing.
