I assumed Pitfall was the sequel. It seemed to be one of those games that improved on the original in every possible way.

I suppose if Shaq Fu can get a do over, anythings possible, but in seriousness, most of the problem ET had and has is the source material wasn't something easily transitioned into a video game. It had better odds in the 2600 days where you could have just done a "dodge stuff on the flying bike for as long as you can" thing, but they got creative.

They'd need to:
1) fix the damn pits so you can't fall into the one you just came out of for a couple seconds 2) add an unskippable half-hour long tutorial detailing what all the symbols at the top of the screen mean, what the bad guys do and how to avoid them, how to find the initials that they spent more time hiding in the game then they did actually programming the damn thing, etc. 3) scrap the whole thing and just make Pac-Man with Reeses' Pieces for dots --- Love dolphins and whales?
