The owner of a high-end lemonade stand in San Francisco's Mission District said that he was approached by officers with the San Francisco Police Department on Thursday, July 19 as he was opening his business after someone in the neighborhood thought he was breaking into his own business.

Viktor Stevenson, a black man who is the owner of Gourmonade, told AJ+ in an interview that he was checking to see if the security system for his lemonade stand was working when four cops approached him. He said one of the officers had his hand on his gun.

"The officer said 'Can you prove that this is your business?' and I said 'Absolutely. Like, I have the key,'" Stevenson told AJ+. "I opened and closed the doors."

I remember having the cops called on me for swimming in the neighborhood pool with a couple friends. The cop looked so annoyed and ended up leaving without doing anything after he found out we were just having fun at the pool.

I mean, he was literally checking the security system, making it sound off. If i'm an onlooker, and I see someone trying to get into a car and the car alarm is going off it's not unreasonable for someone's first thought being "someone is trying to break into that car" regardless of skin color.

yea but I bet he was calm and looked like he had a purpose. he probably wasn't acting like a thief. a thief would not have a key to the door they would smash their way in. and they wouldn't be fiddling with the alarm system cause they can't turn it off. he can. because he knows the password. I think you can tell with body language if they are breaking in, or if they are the actual owner working on their car/store or whatever.
