His leash started pounding on her window going DONT DO THAT and I was like what? And she was like NOT ON MY LAWN GET THAT DOG OFF MY LAWN and I was like hes just peeing and she was like I DONT CARE and I was like I always pick up his poop and I showed her the bags and she was like GET OUT OF HERE and I said youre not very nice and walked away.

Now obviously I respect the fact that its her property, and if she doesnt want my dog on her lawn thats fine. The way she went about it by yelling at me is what made me have anything to say back. Id have just been like oh Im sorry wont happen again if she had spoken to me like a normal person.

But is it rude to let your dog pee on somebodys grass? Isnt that where theyre supposed to go? Pee is fine, just pick up their shit?

Dog pee can kill grass over time if the dog keeps peeing on the same spot, but just once shouldn't hurt. That lady sounds like an asshole.

There are tons of dogs in my neighborhood so my dog likes to go everywhere. Lots of peoples lawns, trees, bushes, etc. I dont let him go on poles or mailboxes because I figure people touch those.

So would it be okay for me to smear faeces on your ceiling because you don't touch it? You don't excrete on people's property because it's theirs. Whether they touch it or not is irrelevant, it's basic human decency to not fuck about with someone else's property without permission.

Interesting, got some varying opinions.

Ill be honest, I have never once in my life heard of somebody getting mad for a dog peeing on their lawn. I feel like hank hill wouldnt even be mad about that.

I walk my dog on the sidewalk and he walks all around smelling stuff and pees occasionally based on who has peed there before

I do, actually. Or else I wouldnt be asking this question. I didnt think it was an issue to have a dog pee on a lawn. I have never heard anybody get mad about that in my life. I respect her not wanting that to happen, and I do not plan on doing it again. I was not a fan of how she spoke to me, because another person would have come back at her hostility with more hostility.

If I didnt care Id keep letting my dog piss there and Id do it also.

People in my neighborhood care about that too. A lot of older people live in the area. People who don't work, so all they do is care for their lawns. One neighbor says they spent over $10,000 on their lawn. Any time I hear stuff like that, i gotta wonder how crazy someone has to be to spend money on grass.

You don't, because if you did, you wouldn't have your dog peeing on her property.

Unless you live in a very odd place, there are almost certainly public areas you could bring your dog to than someone's lawn. And presuming that by "her lawn" you mean her literal yard area, and not a nebulous area in front of her property directly adjacent to the road which tends to be viewed as a legal grey area for ownership (ie, the homeowner is required to maintain it, but it wouldn't be considered trespassing for someone to be there).

(And that's not even getting into assumptions about why you don't have a yard of your own or a public area in an apartment complex where you could do the same thing.)

Also, dismissing her being upset about it because you don't see why it should be an issue means you're not really trying to see things from her perspective. For all you know, she's wound up because she's had to deal with shit (literally or figuratively) from other pet owners who've caused her problems in the past, and you're just catching flack because of other assholes. Or maybe she's spent a ton of money on maintaining her lawn and she's afraid your dog piss will kill her grass. Or maybe she's bothered by the fact that you're literally a stranger wandering into her yard. Or maybe she's pathologically afraid of dogs.

Or maybe it doesn't really matter, because you're still the one going into someone else's yard, and they clearly don't want you there, regardless of whether or not you think it should be totally acceptable.

Yeah, 99.9% of people aren't going to have a problem with pee because, unless it's a constant issue, there's not going to be long-term damage. Depending on the *place*, there might be an issue with smell but even then a property owner likely won't even negatively comment on a dog peeing.

It only takes one urination to possibly cause damage to a lawn, and depending on the area, that damage can be permanent for the year.

It can actually be considered trespassing and you can be sued for letting your dog pee or poop on the lawn if damage is done.

No it's not, it's called curbing your dog. If your dog is not following your command to "leave it" and no go pee on peoples lawn, you didn't do a good job training your dog.

Yeah, I wouldn't want a dog peeing in my yard. I know tons of animals pee and piss in yards but in this case there's something the owner can do about it. I don't even really care about how my yard looks so I wouldn't really care much about it killing grass, I just don't want to step in another person's pet's piss.

It's can be hard to stop a dog from peeing. Also, I know when I'm walking my dog, he'll run to the yard to pee on someone's grass. Most people in my area have pets and understand how they work. So, they don't really care much. Just because your dog pees in your yard doesn't mean (s)/he won't try to pee on other things. Also, he was going on a walk, it seems. He probably didn't just wander into her yard. He may have been walking on the sidewalk, then Reptar decided to wander in and pee.

People have an obsession with lawns you can tell that is the case because even in some areas where maintaining a lawn is a HUGE ordeal to weather that is very unbecoming of keeping a nice lawn we still see neighborhood ordinances that maintain that people have to have a nice lawn no matter the cost.

Maybe some can be trained like that. I don't see it often. Either way, around where I live, no one cares about it. But pretty much everyone also has pets. Mostly dogs, but some cats. Probably a higher percentage of outdoor cats. I think it depends on the neighborhood, too. Even back in my home state, they don't seem to care.

I see. Still as already said in this topic a fence would fix this issue. We don't have a fence on our front yard so sometimes get the neighbours dog wandering in. She's normally just curious about the cats we often get on our windowsill(one that's a stray). The dog doesn't bother with the grass we have though but also doesn't do it's business on our front yard so we don't care. Cats on the other hand don't give a fuck. -_-
