Usually I cycle through my libraries for various systems and end up not really deciding on anything, then I repeat until that process results in me actually making a decision. I'd like to figure out some method that results in me actually playing games. I could always just go with some good old randomizing, but then I'd be too tempted to re-pick when I get something I don't feel like playing, which kind of defeats the purpose.

i ask other people, sometimes. Other times it just depends what I'm in the mood for.

typically what happens though is that I occupy my self with like 20 games that I play at once.

I think about which new game sounds the most fun and then I play a game that Ive already played for 200 hours for a couple weeks before starting the cycle over again

and kinda this as well.

I just replay old games over and over and over again, even after I just bought a new game

Usually just a mood thing. Some subconscious part of me decides what sounds good at the time. Which is certainly part of why I have a huge backlog, including games I bought more than a decade ago and never played. :P

Well, up until yesterday, I prioritized playing and finishing Final Fantasy XII. Then I switched to Super Marioo RPG because the former was boring me.

Like the rest of ya, all about what I'm in the mood for. I have a large enough backlog that I've something to cover just about anything. Long games, short, stealth, shmup, FPS, puzzle, platforming, racing, RPG, VR... It's not always easy to pick the next game and sometimes when there's a tie I'll go with the one that's been on the backlog the longest.

There are other factors at play too. It's the summer and I don't have AC in my room. Meaning I won't be likely to dig out Rock Band or the PSVR. If my schedule is wonky I'll try some shorter games. Then on top of that I have smaller backlogs on the Vita, 3DS, PS3, Wii U, and Switch. The games from previous gens that I never played, well I have to draw the line somewhere. Maybe if the market goes full digital and I stop buying new stuff.

I might make some kind of weighted randomizer but I'm too lazy to the cataloging all my games part

A mix of going w/ the one I'm most excited to start playing and trying to mix things up.

Like, at one point I played Samurai Warriors 4, then Deception IV, then Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate...still have Spirit of Sanada and I want to play it, but after two Warriors games (which take a lot of hours to "complete") in a short span of time I just needed a break so I moved onto other genres.

The Gravity Rush 2 server shut down (yesterday) pushed GR Remastered and GR 2 way up in priority for me, too.

I'll choose one at random, like with a random number generator.

Yeah I'm gonna try randomizing. Made a weighted list, gonna try that out for a while and see if I don't hate it.

Usually what I just feel like playing. If not that, then it's usually to catch up to a current series. For example, I played through MGS3 and 4 before TPP came out. (Yes, I know PW is more relevant than 4 in terms of TPP.) I'm currently working through all of the HD KH games before KH3 drops in January.

After catching up, then I usually pick by whatever friends and family have also played if I happen to have the same game. Typically speaking, like 90% of my games are single player, so it's not like I'm actually playing with them.

And after all that, it's a toss-up between finishing my oldest titles by acquire date or newest ones by acquire date.

I spend more time than I should debating about it, and then play some older game that Ive alresdy beaten 10 times already.

Rinse. Repeat. Backlog grows.
