I guess I just watched Disney's Pocahontas for the first time.

I didn't like it much. Very little character development, John and Pocahontas 'fall in love' right away despite only knowing each other for like an hour or two. Because of her tomfoolery, they killed one of her tribesmen. I mean, sure, because of her there was no war but that was still unrealistic because they were literally invading their land. Who wouldn't be pissed off if that happened? No one would be asking questions or trying to start a peace talk.

Anyways, I've seen a lot of people compare Avatar to Pocahontas. I guess the basic plot is the same, but Avatar did everything way better. It had character development, it had a lot more of a story, and it made you care about the characters in it unlike Pocahontas. Everything in Avatar was far better and more interesting.

Pocahontas is great. Mind you I watched it as a kid and not a grown ass man. Don't think I'd compare Avatar to Pocahontas though.

People who don't like Pocahontas are just mad cause they can't paint with all the colors of the wind and they've never heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon.

While it's a weaker Disney film (storywise; the animation is still really good and the soundtrack is great), Avatar is absolute shit. Both films are annoying preachy and heavy on virtue-signalling, though.

Because that never happens irl? >_> And keep in mind that John was at sea for a really long time without women around.

Yeah, and they're the kind of people who think the only people who are people are the people who look and think like them. They've never walked in the footsteps of a stranger so they never learned things they never knew they never knew.

Its pretty much the same movie, but Avatar is more visually appealing, so Id have to agree.

idk, I prefer Pochahantas's animation. Plus Avatar doesn't have as much singing. How am I supposed to know how characters feel if they don't sing?

That's like every Disney movie with a romantic plot element, and a good chunk of all movies with romantic subplots.

You're right, there's also that awesome and completely memorable movie starring Colin Farrel and some chick.

But Avatar doesn't have a song that literally says "They're not like us so they must be evil."

Probably because the blue cats weren't human so they couldn't say "barely even human"

I don't like singing in my movies. It's very rare when I do. The only one that comes to mind right now is Beauty & The Beast (2017).

I never said it was the only Pocahontas movie. Hence the "Disney's Pocahontas."

and I have not watched Dances with Wolves. I've heard of it. I'll have to watch it.
