That being said, I don't think it's going to fail. And hopefully the movies can redeem the character a bit, and make her more worthwhile than her comic version. Though I still wish they'd used pretty much any other version of the character instead. The male version, the other male version, the black woman version, and the alien lesbian woman version are all way more interesting than Carol is. Hell, even Kamala is more interesting, and would probably be more popular. I just get the impression that this is an attempt at "diversity, but not TOO much diversity". They wanted a film with a female lead, but having a female who is ALSO black, gay, or Muslim was a step too far and terrified the higher-ups.
