Nah. We'd have something solid by now.

I get what you're saying, but "all alien sightings" does include the sightings from non-US countries. And there are "sightings" in other countries.

As for me, I'm on the fence about it. I do think there's other life in the universe, and I do think it's possible that they visit us, but at the same time, why would they just visit us?

But I'm not sure how I feel about sightings.

We study animals so... I can see them taking a Star Fleet approach to things where they might research the planet without interfering with development; particularly if the Earth has no useful resources.

That said, if life ever existed elsewhere in the universe, there's no guarantee that it ever took to space and it's possible that it went extinct long before humanity became a thing.

But the opposite is also true, there's no guarantee that they didn't take to space. There could be beings out there that were there long before humans and are still there.

Other governments would cover it up too. It's not the government being selfish. If the existence of aliens was confirmed, there would be mass hysteria everywhere. That's why the government keeps secrets. There are some things that the mass public just would not be able to handle.

I always loved the opening quote in XCOM:

"Two possibilities exist. Either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying."

Aliens that visit us may be peaceful, but then again they may not be. We simply won't know until it's too late. We better hope that they are peaceful though. Any alien technology that is sufficiently advanced for that kind of space travel would be leagues above our own technology. We would stand no chance of defeating them.

Consider that time and time again throughout human history, when a dominant culture has encountered a primitive culture, the primitive culture is almost always wiped out soon after. Sure those are all human cultures and violence is a human tendency, so we don't know if aliens would be as violent. We won't know until it's too late.

The possible existence of aliens is exciting, but it's also scary as hell too.

It's 2018.

90% of Americans have Smartphones that can take HD photos, or, at the very least, reasonably decent cameras on whatever phone they do have. Even flip phones comes with built-in cameras.

People are obsessed with taking pictures. They take pictures of their food, their friends, themselves, nature, pretty much everything around them to document their life and try to make it appear cooler than it is on social media for the sake of validation.

At any given moment, someone is taking a picture of something, somewhere.

So you mean to tell me that during all this time of cameras and video.....NOBODY has been able to take a non-blurry photo of an alien space craft? Bigfoot? Little green men digging around in your garbage?

They are always out-of-focus, pixelated jokes. I call bullshit.

We have photographs of other planets in our solar system, for christssake. You can see the rings of Saturn. A lot of people have dash-cams in their vehicles. Most intersections on streets have cameras on them. ATMs have cameras on them. People have HD cameras for security outside their homes. The National Geological Survey is always taking pictures of every inch of the planet on a daily basis with satellite imagery.

If aliens exist.....we would have solid evidence of them by now.

If they truly exist, they havent directly interacted with mankind yet. Not on or near our planet, at least.

And if you think the government is just silencing people who DO discover them......I call bullshit on that as well. If I snapped a HD photograph of an alien scrambling around in my backyard....I would post that shit on social media immediately. Hundreds of people would see it within minutes. Many of those people would save the image on their own computer and share it with their friends as well. Professional photographers and image analysts would be able to verify its credibility within days. The government wouldn't know I took the photo until weeks later, and by then, it would be too late for them to silence anyone. And if I mysteriously died in a car accident or something, it would accomplish nothing because the photo has already made its rounds. Government would have to murder/silence hundreds of thousands of people by this point, and it would only make them look shadier when everyone who has stumbled across the photo has mysteriously died or something. Hell, such an action by the government would only make the picture MORE legit, because then people would catch on that the government doesn't want people to see it.

So yeah....

If it was a photo that was actually good quality, and was a REAL alien.....people would take note. Because it would probably be unlike anything anyone has seen before.

It would go viral.

Also, most people have a lot of friends on social media. I have a lot. It would spread. I would actually make sure it spreads. Being the one who took the picture, I would actively seek out professionals to analyze my photo. Experts have all kinds of tricks they can use to tell if a photo was altered. Once its confirmed to be real, it would take off even more from there.

I understand your skepticism. I really do. So I can understand why you would find this scenario hard to imagine.....and that's mainly because it has never happened before. Because no one has ever taken a photo of a real alien.

Which brings us full circle. lol

I find it more probably that a real picture is already taken than a picture you take to be considered a legit source.

What would be funny, is if this situation happened then your picture gets discredited but the image experts.

Of course it would make me different from all the others. Because I would be the first person in history that took a photo/video clip of an alien that wasn't a pixelated, blurry, dark mess! Haha

You seem to be having some trouble wrapping your mind around this. I get it. You are skeptical. That's fine. We are talking about a totally theoretical situation, after all.

Do you know of any alien photographs/video clips circling the internet at this very moment that people are claiming to be real, and you feel conflicted on? Ones that aren't a blurry, dark, pixelated mess taken by some farmer with a middle school education back in the 1970's?

Because my photo/video would not be that.

I am talking about me taking a photograph/video, in 2018, in my backyard, in focus, with decent lighting, on a camera that was constructed in the 21st century....that cannot be easily misinterpreted as fake, because too many factors are working in its favor.

It's there. Bam. Clear as day. Easy to see. Easy to study. Holy shit, this dude actually took a photo/video of an alien!

It would make its rounds online. A couple news agencies would probably even want to interview me.

In fact, the photo/video is of such good quality, the only people who would be able to deny its legitimacy, are people who are lying to themselves...because they are more horrified by the prospect of it being real than being a hoax. But image experts would be able to study it pixel by pixel, and even crack into the hardware of the camera/phone I took the photo/video on to determine it was 100% legitimate and not altered in any way.

If you don't think this is possible, you should look into some of the stuff criminal investigators can do.

Haters and doubters would probably even be willing to argue with me about it, and offer to pay the fees to get it processed by professionals to prove its legitimacy. Which, of course, I would be more than happy to do.

But yeah. There are no limits to human ignorance. Even after it's proven to be an unaltered, legitimate photograph/video, there would still be people who refuse to believe it, because the idea just terrifies them. Kinda like how we can still have "flat-earthers" even in 2018. But those people are mentally ill and can usually be dismissed with ease.

They will probably assume the image analysts were in on it. Or I'm an ISIS sleeper agent, trying to prove Jesus is a lie. Or the whole thing is a publicity stunt for some new movie coming out. Or I'm a Scientologist. All of which would be laughable and probably only assist me in looking even more legit.

We've seen that stuff before. The lie eventually comes out. But this photo would be different. This would be a one of a kind. The first of its kind. Little room for doubt.

Personally, I'd be extremely entertained watching people try to prove its fake, knowing damn well it isn't, because I was the one who took the photo and saw the damn alien with my own eyes.

How fascinating it would be. To know something is real, but other people refusing to process it.

Internet trolls who insist its fake, even posting fake proof that I'm an independent film maker and the whole thing was just designed to bring attention to my website or some shit. The trolls even go so far as to get ahold of pictures of me, steal my identity, and CREATE fake websites where I'm admitting that it was all a lie to promote my new movie. So they can say, "SEE!!?! He's a fraud!!!" lol

It's all good, dude. I get it. Yer skeptical of a theoretical situation.

People don't keep their phone cameras ready for an instant snapshot. Imagine a car speeding by you. By the time you get the phone out of your pocket, the car is already gone.

Also, just because there haven't been any legit photos taken in the last 10 or so years since phone cameras were invented, that doesn't mean that aliens have never visited Earth at all. Maybe they haven't visited in the last 10 years, but they could have visited in the 1950s or the 1800s or the 1200s or whenever. There is the "ancient alien" theory that the gods worshiped by ancient civilizations were actually aliens. We will likely never know for certain, but aliens could have visited Earth thousands of years ago.

I do believe there are other species in other galaxies, but I dont believe that aliens have ever visited us. The odds of that happening is maybe 1 in a trillion x 100. Fast space travel just seems too difficult or not possible at all.

You may say that there is most likely other species far more advanced than us, and that they probably discovered how to travel space without wasting so much time. Time is a huge factor. It would take a huge fleet of generations upon generations multiplying in space to travel through space and reach a destination, but odds of that happening is much lower. But lets say that does happen, we should be scared because if aliens are willing to travel that far for generations than they most likely would want to inhabit the earth as their own and would fight for it. Also the bacteria they would probably bring to us could be deadly to us as well.

I'm confused by those who keep saying "they need proof"

There are many many books about the subject, and while there are a lot of hoaxes there are some books that are true. Sorry to burst your bubble but yes, aliens do exist. I have no idea why people are so quick to deny it and say "because there is no proof". I can list some books that literally state the main reason they avoid open contact is because Earth is not ready. . You do not need to be a blind believer to know they exist, basic common sense is this universe is so big that it would be near impossible for no other planet/moon/star to not hold life

From what I know/read no visitors will want to openly visit a planet that has the resources to fix all of our issues (environmental, food, basic humanitarian efforts) but doesn't for reasons that appear foreign such as greed, jealousy, laziness, etc. I'm not saying we (Earth) have to be picture perfect but many people are not focusing on the bigger picture which is helping each other out. Although there are a lot of people who do like nurses, doctors, teachers that try to help, Earth is in a dire need of more efforts being pushed to humanitarian acts and not separating ourselves by "country" i.e it's X Country's problem so we do not have to deal with it

If you seriously think Aliens have never visited this planet before this new "civilization" and even now you are basically the flat Earth believer of today

Unlikely but not impossible. There was one particular video taken by a jet fighter pilot more than 10 years ago that got me scratching my head once. He filmed a light in the sky during his flight that outspeed his own fighter and made several impossible turns until it went beyond the horizon in a blink. Not claiming it was a UFO, but I do wonder what the heck was that thing. Maybe an angel? Some bizarre bug/animal we had not recognized yet? A natural phenomenon or chemical reaction? Whatever that was, there's no freaking way a man made thing could fly like that at the time (maybe it's even impossible today). Really intriguing stuff. If one of all these sights are to be real, I would place my bets on this one... tho don't blindly believe in it.

Which is just funny when you take into account that there's no air resistance in space. If you had enough fuel, you could keep speeding up infinitely and reach light speed... good luck trying to pull the breaks after that tho. lol
