Now, I'm not a fan of Islam nor do I think that this is "racist" as some would claim. But it is absolute nonsense.

It's under the guise of "protecting" women by using the ban as an excuse to get away from oppressive clothing norms in Islamic communities, but also infantilizes women. Like somehow women are incapable of standing up for themselves for what they want to wear. It's just policing women's clothing, preventing those that want to wear it from doing so.

More importantly, this is just the enhance the surveillance state. It's because they don't like people wearing clothing that covers people's faces and obscures people's body shape so they can't track you and control you. Not to mention burqas are really good for concealed carry.

Don't fall for it. Anonymity is a human right. We may need it some day.

ISIS actually banned the full burqa because it allowed militant infiltrators into ISIS territory too easily.

It's hypocritical as fuck to dictate what a woman can wear in the name of women's rights.

Burqas are not the cause of sexism in Muslim communities, just a symptom.

I fully agree with a business barring anyone from coming into their place with their face covered. But, just a blanket ban on them isn't something I agree with.

Wait what?
I mean, fair enough Mead can be mean and everything, but you chose to put your name on GameFAQs and continue to post here.

If he went on other websites and followed people, that's harassment.

While true, the establishment loses far more than we do.

I have mixed feelings regarding it since there's a great deal of cultural coercion and, of course, pragmatic issues concerning anonymity (as such, I'm *at least* against covering the fact for identification photos). But sure, the laws themselves seem to be an infringement on their religion -- that said, these are nations which don't believe in free speech or religious freedoms. The USA is relatively unique when it comes to protecting freedoms and, even here, religious freedoms tend to get trampled.

Apparently it is good against the heat.

Also, when asking in those regions, people will never say the outfit is cultural, just practical against the sand in the wind. It only really became a cultural identifier outside the original regions.

That explains the lack of sand protection for men.

I see an unprotected face. If it's just sand protection then their faces should be covered too.

Some of them do have a protected face.

I don't remember the name, but they absolutely exist. People don't wear them because I imagine it's hard to breath.
