Even though scum said they couldn't care less and it didn't impact them at all, that was the real subgame. The entire board did. Puns just did better. I was lynched Day 2 because I "was taking all the fun out of the game." Oh man, I don't think I ever told you guys about my recent experience playing werewolf with strangers at a board game con a couple months ago. There were 3 wolves, of which I was one. The group was pretty socially awkward in general, and day 1/2 I was doing a great job of leading discussion and just looking good by way of being active and not shy. The game had a town role who had to target someone night 1, and whenever the town player died, their night 1 target died also. The lover-maker role was lynched day 2, and then the person he'd targeted was a vengeful town...and the vengeful town happened to be sitting right beside me and overheard something I said in a one on one conversation to the person on the other side of me during the day which made him suspect me, even though he didn't chime in. In some games Mafia members aren't allowed to talk to each other in private unless it's the night phase? No interaction allowed with players still alive and in game, just for dead non-scum to discuss. Like I'm sure plenty of times town dies like Day 1-3 and then by the time the game is over Day 6,7, 8, 9 or whatever that they can't be bothered to comment or stopped following the game just due to how much time has passed. Or maybe something happens that they want to immediately verbalize and then by the time endgame rolls around it is no longer relevant. I remember in that mtg game I had only one character and one role i was ever allowed to fake claim no matter what. Scum was horribly underpowered. My role shouldn't have even existed, much less been a critical part of the balance. Personally I'm glad to have exited that game day 1 with no effort.
