"Go with the East side," you say. "We'll be closer to home that way."

"Then we can alter course just a bit now," Roselind says.

"So that we save time back-tracking later," Rebecca says.

Roselind and Rebecca have their horses turn slightly to the right as you continue. You stay close to Raven as the group goes up and over a hill to enter the flower fields.

"Wow~...!" Raven says. "They go on for miles! And this is all in your family's estate?"

"Yes," you say. "All these flowers, from the honeysuckle to the dog roses, belong to the Null Family."

"It's so colorful, too," she says. "It's actually kinda nice."

"Really? I would've thought you'd prefer darker."

"Well, it's still nice," she shrugs. "I'm not all doom and gloom, you know that."

"That's true. You were more 90% gloom when I met you, and now... Maybe 80% gloom?"

Raven giggles a bit.

"Maybe," she says. "Definitely no less than that."

You look up ahead and see that, along with the Robertas just competing with each other, the others have gotten ahead of you.

"C'mon, we should speed up just a little bit," you say.

You give a little flick of the reins and Cherry Bomb trots a bit faster. Raven gives her own flick, and Vinegar matches speed. The two of you catch up to the Robertas in the rear, and the horses naturally slow down to avoid bumping into them.

"Oh, the bluebells are still out," Rivers says as she points out the tall stems draped with purple-blue flowers.

"Those look lovely," Rhodes says. "May we pick some on the way back?"

"Certainly," you say.

Rhodes smiles and claps as the group continues on.

"Here's the major hill section," Roselind says to the group.

"Hold on tight," Rebecca says.

They and their horses go up first, the horses being careful of the rocky face. After they go, it's Ruby and Rumiko. Young Bundt Cake is a bit shakey but with encouragement from Ruby on her construct, the yearling makes it to the top. The Robertas are next, and their horses are confident as they go up.

"Just relax," you tell Raven as you two are last. "The horses know what to do, so just let them."

"Okay," she nods.

The horses climb up, and you lean forward as the slope increases. Raven seems pretty nervous as Vinegar carefully finds footing.

You reach the top first with Cherry Bomb, and everyone makes room.

"Aaa!" Raven yelps as Vinegar slips slightly.

"Just hold on!" you say. "You might throw Vinegar off balance."

Raven tenses up, and Vinegar steadies herself. Vinegar tries again, and finds more stable rocks this time. They reach the top, and Raven relaxes.

"Thank goodnes..." she heaves and sighs. "I was worried, mostly for the horse."

"I know, that would've been so tragic," Rivers says. "Even with Druidic and normal Healing magics, it'd be awful if anything happened to these poor dears."

"They are not deer, they are horses," Rumiko says.

"No, not the animal. Dear, as in 'sweethearts'."

"Oh..."

The group moves on, and after walking through the slightly wooded area, come to the stream. This is much easier to cross for everyone, and you leave the stream behind to come upon the lake.

As planned, you come upon the Eastern side of the lake, and find the posts to tie the horses to.

"We need to refill the troughs," Ruby says.

"On it," you say.

You use your Water Element magic to bring water from the lake to the troughs. The horses drink while you take the saddle bags with the picnic goods and towels by the picnic table.

"Alright, time to change into swimsuits!" Ruby says.

"No looking, Rory!" the girls all say to you.

"I wouldn't!" you defend.

"Well just in case," Raven says.

She creates a wall with her aura.

"Obscuro," she says.

Her wall becomes completely opaque, so that it is truly a wall dividing you from them. You start changing into your swim trunks, but you can hear the girls talking quietly yet excitedly. There's a lot of giggling, too.

"What're you ladies going on about?" you ask.

"Nothing~...!" they reply; you can practically hear the smiles on their faces.

"Doesn't sound like nothing~," you say. "Is it something secret you don't want me to know?"

"Well..." Raven says.

"It's no big deal, right?" Ruby says. "It happened while you were in Hawaii and that was weeks ago, right?"

"Raven, you're telling them about that?" you say. "In earshot of my sisters?"

"They covered their ears already," Raven. "And it's not about that."

"Then what're you telling them that you don't want me to know?"

The girls giggle again.

"Well, you remember," Raven starts, "we had to change in the parking lot at the beach."

"Yeah, we used Illusion magic to keep ourselves shielded from everyone else."

"Right," she says. "But we weren't shielded from each other."

"And I kept my promise not to turn around and peek."

"Yes, you did," Raven says as the girls build to another giggle.

"Wait... Did... Did you...?"

The girls burst into stronger laughter.

"You peeked at me?"

"Yes...!" Raven says. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have, but I was tempted."

"What'd you see?" you say.

"It was just your butt," she chuckles. "By the way, it's pretty nice."

"Oh. Well, thank you. But you could've told me."

"What's the fun in that?" Raven laughs. "Are you done changing?"

"Hold on," you say.

You pack your riding clothes into your saddle bags and tug the string tight on your swim trunks.

"Ready," you say.

The wall comes down and all the ladies dressed in their various swimsuits. Your sisters are in matching one pieces, with Roselind wearing white with black polkadots and Rebecca the reverse. Roberta Rhodes is in a green string bikini while Rivers is in a blue two piece. Rumiko is in a bright pink one piece with high hips, while Ruby is in a dark red two piece with a more boy-shorts bottom.

"Oh, speaking of Hawaii," you say as you look at Raven. "This looks like the bare shoulders model, with the little peekaboo belly button, but it's cerulean."

"That's because this is that leotard," she says. "My leotards change colors with my robes, to a degree."

"Well, that's pretty incredible. And this blue looks nice on you."

"Thank you," she smiles.

"Before we swim," Roberta Rivers says, "we should probably put on sun screen."

"Right," you say.

You take the sun screen out of the saddle bag, and see Rivers, Rhodes and even Ruby line up. You can already guess what they're after from you.

"Raven," you say, "I'll help you with this."

"Oh," she says. "Thank you."

You pop the cap on the bottle of sunscreen, and Raven turns around to present her bare back and shoulders. You squeeze out the cream, and smooth it onto her skin.

"Ooo~!" she says. "It's a little cold."

"Sorry about that."

"No, it's fine."

The Robertas, Ruby and Rumiko all look at Raven with a bit of pouty jealousy. Raven notices, and smirks at them, her Empathic ability clearly picking up on it.

"Make sure to get my arms," Raven says.

You squeeze out more sunscreen lotion and rub it onto her right arm from bicep to forearm, then do the same for her left.

"And my legs," Raven says.

You feel nervous as you kneel and squeeze out more sunscreen. Raven holds out one leg, and you start rubbing from ankle to calf to knee to thigh, and though you're not Empathic, you can feel the jealousy growing stronger in the other suitresses. And it only grows stronger as you smooth your hands and sunscreen on the other leg.

"Alright, now I'll do you," Raven says.

You stand up and she takes the bottle. She squeezes out sunscreen and rubs it on your chest, the back of your neck, your back, and your arms. Just as the other girls were jealous before as you were touching Raven, they're just as jealous of Raven touching you.

"Y-You don't need to do my legs," you say. "I'm sure they'll be fine."

"If you say so," she shrugs. "Here you girls go."

She tosses them the bottle, and they apply the sunscreen to themselves.

"What do you ladies say to a race?" you ask. "We can go to the platform out there on the lake."

"Okay!" Roselind and Rebecca says.

"Why not," Raven shrugs.

"Does the winner get anything?" Ruby asks.

"Well, they're obviously the first to rest on the platform," you say. "It's nice for sunbathing."

"Okay, but it should be for sunbathing next to Rory," Ruby says.

"But what if he wins?" Roberta Rhodes says. "Does second place get to be next to him?"

"Naturally," Ruby shrugs.

"If those are the prizes," Rebecca says.

"Count us out," Roselind says.

"Your prize can just be to sunbathe on the platform at all," you retort at them. "Anyway, line up."

You all go to the edge of the water and stand in a line.

"Ready..." you say. "GO!"

Everyone dives into the water and scrambles for the wood platform in freestyle stroke. As you swim, you realize how fast Raven can go. But then Rumiko blasts ahead! You don't really push too hard, but you're still fast enough to be in third behind those two.

You can only see so much as you swim, but you see Raven is falling behind Rumiko. By the time you reach the platform, Raven has reached it and is climbing up, but Rumiko is already sitting there with a big grin.

"Ai~ won~!" she sings. "Ai get tu sit nexu to Rory!"

"Yeah well, so do I," Raven says as she gives you room.

You climb up between them, and see Rivers is next, followed by Roselind, Rhodes, Ruby and Rebecca trailing in last.

"What happened there?" you say. "I thought you and Roselind were always even."

"Becca tried getting fancy," Roselind says. "I told her she's not ready for the butterfly."

"Like it matters," Rebecca says as she joins her sister. "You and I weren't exactly interested in the grand prize."

"Yeah but you were still last," Roselind says.

"Let's just relax and soak in the sun," you say as you recline back.

Rumiko reclines back with a big smile on her face, while Raven settles in next to you. Raven's pinkie reaches out for yours, and you take her hand in yours. You look over at her and she smiles.

"The wind feels nice," Rivers sighs from Raven's left as a breeze goes by. "Especially on a hot day like this."

"And the sun feels good on my back," Rhodes says past Rivers.

You crane your neck to see that Rhodes has turned over onto her stomach. Raven squeezes your hand, and you look at her as she frowns.

"Sorry," you whisper as you lie back down.

You quietly stare up at the sky, and see the few clouds out today floating just off center.

"Y'know," you say. "The entire time we were at Hawaii, I'm not sure we really swam all that much."

"Hmm..." Raven says. "That might be true. We got in the water, but just to cool off. And maybe kiss."

She chuckles, and you chuckle. Rumiko pouts next to you.

"Oh stop," you smirk at her. "You got to be my Elemental Magic mentor, and I'm grateful for that."

"She was?" Raven asks.

"Yes," Rumiko says with a bit of a sneer.

"Well, then you were teaching me the way she taught you," Raven points out.

"That's true."

"Eeeh!?" Rumiko says.

"They were really good techniques, though," Raven defends.

"Oh," Rumiko says, blushing from being flattered. "Tsank you."

"Did everyone else teach you the other schools of magic?" Raven asks.

"No, I actually learned from their parents," you say.

"Those were fun times," Ruby says from Rumiko's right. "Ya spent days on tha farm with tha sheep, and fell in tha mud a lot."

"Well, falling in the mud wasn't that fun," you say. "But when I finally got the sheep to go where I wanted, that felt great."

"So you spent time with all their families?" Raven asks.

"No more time than we've already spent together," you say.

"Which stay was your favorite?" she asks.

it's the system established after generations of tradition. but Raven beating them legitimized who she was so everyone else can shut up.

"I can't choose," you say. "They were all nice."

"Only 'nice'?" Rhodes says.

"Well, really nice," you defend. "None of the experiences were bad."

The suitresses grumble and pout, which makes Raven chuckle.

"I'm starting to dry off," Raven says as she sits up. "How about we go back in the water to just swim around?"

"Certainly," you say as you sit up. "Hop on in."

You and Raven hop off the platform and splash into the water. You paddle your way towards the shore and Raven follows. You look back and see the other girls awkwardly trying to decide for themselves whether to stay or go. Your sisters are the only ones to stay while the others drop into the water to follow.

"You girls should just enjoy yourselves," Raven says as she swims closer to you. "Explore the lake and give me some time alone with Rory."

"No way," Ruby says. "We may not be able ta win Rory over but we're not letting him just make out with ya."

Raven laughs as she coasts up beside you.

"But Rory said there are all sorts of places we could sneak away to in the mansion," she smiles. "You won't be able to stop us~!"

"Sneaky," Ruby says. "I like it."

"Speaking of exploring," you say.

"Let's see what there is to see on the West end of the lake."

You start swimming to the far side and Raven follows closely.

"Should we race there?" Ruby asks as she swims ahead to join with you.

"No, we wouldn't want to spook any of the fish or wildlife as we approach."

You lead the way, and the Robertas and Rumiko follow after.

"The West shore looks broader than the East," Raven notes as you continue.

"Yes, the lake is almost egg shaped," you say. "The West end is the broadest but it's also the most active with trout and salmon."

"Oh wow. Do you fish up your seafood from here?"

"Sometimes," you say. "But usually it's from the markets in town."

You approach the shore, and take a deep breath before diving underwater. You look around and see the occasional trout. They avoid you and the others, but they don't go too far since this is their territory.

"Helloblblblb~~~!" Ruby says while underwater.

You two surface and she laughs.

"Good to see there's a good number of those around," Ruby says.

"Yes, there's a healthy population in the lake," Rivers says. "It gives the lake a strong vitality."

"Let's go to the South a bit," you say.

You paddle your way to the left, with Raven following. Roberta Rivers seems more interested in the fish, but Rhodes follows you. Ruby lingers behind her, also rather intrigued by the fish.

"What is there this way?" Rhodes asks.

"Well, if the timing is right," you say, "there should be..."

You look and see the small gathering of flowers that stand straight up towards the sun high overhead.

"Yes, there they are," you say.

"Whoa, what flowers are those?" Raven asks.

"Noon Risers!" Rhodes says. "Or, also called Sun Dial Flowers. They bloom and droop with the hours of the day, so that they stand straight up like this at Noon."

"Wow," Raven says. "So they're unique to this area?"

"Yes," you say. "They're difficult to maintain once transplanted, so we don't have that many in the manor."

"That's so cool," Raven says. "And they look really lovely as far as flowers go."

"How much time do you think we have?" Rhodes asks.

"For what?" Raven asks.

"There's a wishing well, shooting star sort of superstition to Noon Risers," you say. "If you take a sniff and make a wish right as they stand up at noon, the wish is said to come true. Though, in the case where it isn't exactly noon, it can still work but with less probabilility. For example, if you sniff the flower at half past, the chance of the wish coming true go down to 50%."

"I kinda like that," Raven says.

Rhodes goes ashore and over to the flowers. She kneels down and sniffs several flowers. She must really want this wish of hers to come true.

"Raven," you whisper. "Follow me."

You take a deep breath and dive underwater. Raven follows, and you do your best dolphin kick as you swim away from the shore. You two go as far as you can on that one breath, and when you surface, you find yourselves near the middle of the lake, and of course closer to the South shore.

"They're gonna see us eventually, aren't they?" Raven asks.

"Yes," you say. "But in the meantime..."

You lead Raven by the hand as you go towards the shore. You just go so that the water is shallow enough, and bring Raven in as you rest up against the wet sand.

"Rorek...!" Raven says with a nervous but excited smile. "We can't do this out in the open. Your sisters will see."

"Do what?" you ask. "We're just snuggling up."

You wrap your arms around her to press your bodies together.

"Was that your plan all along?" Raven asks. "Find a way to ditch the others just so we could snuggle up?"

"More that I seized on an opportunity," you say.

"Good thinking, then," she says. "But we really could've just waited until we were back at the mansion or something."

"Perhaps," you say. "But you're already so tantalizing in this bright blue."

Raven giggles as you smooth your hands on her sides.

"You're encourageable, you know that?" she smirks at you.

You smile back before kissing her on the neck and cheeks. She settles in and kisses you back, then nuzzles noses with you. She wraps her arms around you to kiss you on the lips, and you recline even further back against the sand.

"Other than it being the woods and not a jungle," Raven says as you break. "This is almost like Hawaii."

"Perhaps," you say. "The heat was stronger in Hawaii, though."

"Oh of course," Raven says. "Though, it helped that we were in shorts and things more over there."

"Yes, it did," you say. "Wait are we talking temperature or a different kind of heat?"

"Why not both?" she smirks as she pushes up against you with her bosom.

You grin as you smooth Raven's hair behind her ear. You nibble on her ear lobe, and she giggles right next to your ear, and the sound of it sends a tingle through your body. She bites her lower lip as she smirks at you again. You hook one of her legs, and she goes from biting her lip to smiling wide. She then returns to biting her lip as you two grind under the water.

"Nanishiteruno?!" Rumiko says.

You and Raven are startled, and see Rumiko coming up from out of the water.

"Rumiko?!" you say. "Where did you come?"

"Arerugi han'no," she says before sniffling. "Ai went to get my medicine in my bag."

"Oh, I didn't even think if there'd be a plant out here you'd react to. Though I suppose that did keep you preoccupied."

Rumiko pouts, which makes Raven groan.

"Okay, listen up, 'chibi'," Raven says as she stands up and walks over to Rumiko. "You lost fair and square. That means, by the official system Rorek's family put in place and your family agreed to, I'm rightfully Rorek's girlfriend on top of how we feel about each other. So don't get all upset over seeing our public displays of affection, got it?"

Rumiko simply glares and growls at Raven, which makes Raven growl and glare back.

"Saisen!" Rumiko shouts. "Rebenju matchi!"

"Huh?" Raven says.

"She means 'rematch'," you say. "Saying it Japanese was actually closer."

"Rematch, huh?" Raven says. "You wanna lose again, huh?!"

"Hold on," you say. "If you're going to duel here, we need to clear some space for you."

You get up and prepare Barrier Magic on the East side of the lake, then a large circular platform around the wood platform where your sisters sit.

"Hey!" they protest.

"Yeah, sorry, you two are gonna have to move," you reply.

They pout, but reluctantly hop off the platform and into the water. They swim towards the shore, and the others regroup as well.

"What's going on?" Ruby asks.

"Rumiko and Raven are having a rematch," you say.

"Aww... Ah was hoping to have mine."

"Maybe sometime later," Raven says.

"Wait," Rumiko says. "You are... Elemental Water, yes?"

"I am capable of Water Element, yeah," Raven says.

"Then you have advantage!" Rumiko says.

"Well, I wasn't the one who asked for the rematch," Raven retorts. "And besides, we both have Wind, so that works anywhere!"

"Very true... Then, keep it to Wind Element, and all other things are allowed."

"Agreed," Raven says.

The two shake on it, and then swim out to the platform you prepared.

"Well, I suppose we'll have to be the official judge and witnesses for this duel," you say to your sisters, Ruby and the Robertas. "So then, Rumiko of Japan and Raven of Azarath, the rematch. Begin!"

Rumiko makes the first move, firing Arcane rapidly at Raven! Raven blocks with her own Barrier magic, then retaliates with her own Arcane. Rumiko rolls on the Barrier magic platform to evade, then fires back with Disorientation. Raven cartwheels to evade while also getting closer to Rumiko. They run at each other, and resort to melee!

Raven would thrust a kick in first, but Rumiko slides under. Rumiko goes to sweep but Raven hops over. Raven goes to punt but Rumiko evades. Rumiko pushes the other leg and Raven is forced to do the splits.

"Ouch," you say. "I didn't think Raven could do that."

"She seems okay, though," Ruby says.

Raven spins out from the splits and the reach of her legs gets Rumiko to back off. Raven stands up, and the two have a stand off as they decide what to do next.

They gather wind into their hands, preparing Elemental magic.

"Raven, be careful," you say, "that's Rumiko's specialty!"

"Kaze!" Rumiko shouts.

"Kaze!" Raven copies.

"Hageshi Toppu!" Rumiko shouts.

"Hageshi Toppu!" Raven copies again.

Both of them blast massive gales at each other, and the winds collide to create just as massive blow-back. Both Raven and Rumiko fly backwards into the water with big splashes. You grow worried, but then they come gasping up to the surface.

Raven pulls herself out of the water first, and uses a combination of Heat and Wind magic to dry herself rather quickly. You can tell she's thinking of something, and then brings in more Wind magic.

"Kaze," she says. "Uhhh... H-Hito?"

Rumiko stifles her laughter, but not for long.

"Baka baaaaka!" she laughs at Raven. "Anata wa hontni kaze to netsu o kumiawaseyou to shite imasu ka?"

"I recognized 'kaze' in that," Raven says.

"Ai will show you how it izu done!" Rumiko says. "Kaze Netsu, Boryoku!"

Rumiko shoots a big gust of wind at Raven, and you can tell its hot from the steam coming off the water!

"Hot! Hot!" Raven says as she scampers to the edge of the platform.

Raven jumps back into the water to cool off, but Rumiko has a spark in her hands!

"Raven!" you shout.

Rumiko leans over and sends the spark into the water! *ZIZZZ* The spark surges through the water!

"Rumiko!" Rivers reprimands. "That's going too far! Not only could you really hurt Raven, but all the innocent fish in the lake."

"Wait, where is Raven?" Roselind asks.

"Yeah," Rebecca says. "If she was hit, shouldn't she be floating up? Or, at least, coming back up for air?"

You all look around, but Raven doesn't come up to the surface.

*SPWOOSH* Raven flies out, with her bird-like aura around her!

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" Raven shouts.

Her bird flaps its wings and creates massive gusts, as strong as anything Rumiko can make!

"Dou yatte?!" Rumiko shouts. "Dou yatteeee~!?"

Rumiko flies off the platform and splashes down in the water. Raven lands on the platform as Rumiko surfaces with a gasp. Raven uses her own Barrier magic to encase Rumiko! She pulls Rumiko, and some water, out of the lake and into the air. Raven then adds Binding magic with shackles and chains that extend out from the Barriers and lock up Rumiko.

"I call this the Houdini Special," Raven smirks. "The water, the chains, and the casing, three layers of difficulty to escape, even with magic."

Rumiko growls as she struggles against the Binding, but the water's natural resistance makes it all the more difficult. Raven was merciful enough to leave Rumiko air to breath, but even that won't last for long.

"So, are you done?" Raven asks her.

Rumiko growls and struggles more, but it seems pretty clear to everyone.

"Ai... Givu up," Rumiko says.

Raven brings her Houdini Special over and undoes all its layers to set Rumiko free. Rumiko sniffles and wipes her tears, to then respectfully bow to Raven.

"You win," Rumiko says. "Ai givu up on Rory-kun."

"This might be odd to say," Raven says, "but thank you."

Raven also bows, and you let down the barriers while everyone regroups on shore.

"Let's have that lunch now, hm?" you say.

Everyone agrees and you all return to your base camp on the East banks.

"I'll be having a turkey sandwich," you say as you open the picnic basket. "What would you ladies like?"

"I'll have ham," Raven says.

"I'll have ham," Roselind says.

"I'll have turkey," Rebecca says.

"I'll have ham," Roberta Rivers says.

"Me, too!" Roberta Rhodes says.

"I'll have ham, too," Ruby says.

"Ai will have turkey," Rumiko says.

You hand everyone the sandwiches they request, and then set out a large picnic blanket. Everyone sits down, and then you find Carter and the others made sure to pack bottled lemonade.

"Well how nice of them," you say as you pull them out. "One for everyone."

You all take off the bottle caps and drink the ice cold lemonade.

"Mmm~...!" everyone says, even as lips pucker from the sour sweetness.

"The sandwiches are nice, too," Raven says. "Very full and neatly stacked."

"Indeed," you say as you feel the heft of the turkey in yours.

Everyone eats the sandwiches and enjoys the meat, mayonnaise and bit of mustard.

"So, after lunch," Raven says. "You told Carter we'd return right after, but do we have to really return right after?"

A) Yes, right away
B) Yes, but you can take your time
C) No, you can spend some extra time at the lake first
