And instead of applying to only non-retail jobs, they would rather keep on making posts and sharing meme's about how their job sucks.

Its like this for most people this age. It just seems like a lot more because of social media you see it all Over the world and not just in your circle of friends

It's just American credit culture. I grew up paying cash/debit for everything, and I haven't changed. I spend very little, and I never budget. It's just natural for me not to waste money.

You need MORE self-control to buy things with credit cards.

You have to pay the balance at the end of every month always. If you want to need to, pay the balance at the end of every day and it's essentially the same thing as a debit card but better.

It's generally been expressed as being a result of not being able to trust the system (banks and other regulating organizations) because many of us were about to become adults or had been adults for up to a decade, then suddenly the housing bubble burst and we saw people lose everything, as well as entire fields eradicated and jobs get gutted.

Aren't boomers broke too?

In my family, my parents are bankrupt and I think will be making less money than me soon.

My grandparents have been broke for a long time.

My niece and nephew are both druggies.

I have a crazy aunt and uncle that are unemployed with 2 kids (20+) that live dependently with them for some reason.

The same aunt has 2 successful kids, one becoming a doctor, the other recently was laid off but has options and money.

Another Aunt / uncle has a weird family life, they are hard to get along with because they don't seem to like anyone these days. They are fairly involved with family affairs though, but have a strained relationship with my cousin who recently had a baby. They have a modest amount of money.

Another Aunt / uncle are rich but seem to hate people and are untrustworthy. They have fucked over their kids. So I'm not sure about them and I don't know many cousins there.

Other grandma is a religious Texan nut. She's healthy with some savings.

One of her kids has lived off her for a very long time but recently got a job with the sheriff's dept.

My other Aunt / uncle on that side are fairly successful but not rich. They have 2 kids that are like 5-12.

So among all of this I'm one of the most successful people in my family, including the boomers. Certainly not rich.

I've never used anything I've learned in school at any job I've worked at. Basic math, sure, but I don't need to add them up in my head without a calculator. Spreadsheets can be learned on the job easily enough or at the trade school.

That's what I think we need to do. Drop high school and open up trade schools.

What?

I'm saying the intent of this topic was to poke fun at kids that say they are broke, but they're broke because they spend all this money they don't have. It seemed like you were saying TC was forgetting the fact that everyone is broke these days, but it wasn't. Just TC saying it's funny to see a lot of people saying they're broke, when they woudln't be if they didn't make such foolish decisions

At least that's what I got out of the topic's intent

Not that this would solve poor money management skills. And of course this will kick a hornets nest.
But Millennials, maybe then don't vote for democrats. They want to tax you to fund every feel good bs cause under the sun only to then pilfer from that pot for some pet project along the way. Then tax you again and more for the same cause later on. Rinse, repeat. Punishment tax for not driving the vehicle they want you to. Tax gas. Pass this, pass that because feelings. Thank god at least congress got rid of that damn individual mandate because there they were taxing us for not buying a shitty private owned service that still wouldn't cover you 100% in an emergency and you would go broke anyway.
That leaves you with less money to save or spend. But hey, you do get to post on twitter that you stand with *insert flavor of the month cause*.

The other side certainly aren't saints and have their own help the rich friends motives. But they do help the regular guy more financially than anyone is going to admit they do. Under them I get a tax return. Under Dems I never do. And I'm at poverty level according to CA.
