Journalist Ronan Farrow revealed to George Stephapoulos on Good Morning America that the Hillary Clinton campaign tried to cancel an interview with him because they learned he was investigating Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced, alleged serial sexual harasser/assaulter who was also an influential and powerful donor to the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party:
FARROW: Hillary Clinton had scheduled an interview while I was at the height of the Weinstein reporting, and her folks got in touch and said, we hear youre working on a big story, sounded very concerned, and tried to cancel the interview.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Over the Weinstein stuff?
FARROW: Over the Weinstein stuff
STEPHANOPOULOS: Woah! Im surprised at that!
Really George? Surprised at that? Surprised that the Clinton machine would intimidate and bully a journalist for investigating a story that could be damaging to their candidate or a powerful ally?
This is the same George Stephanopoulos who worked on Bill Clintons 1992 presidential campaign that famously squelched multiple bimbo eruptions surrounding the Arkansas Governor and his quest for the White House. Stephanopoulos recalled his moral position on being part of the bimbo eruption operation in his memoir All Too Human:
I didnt believe Clinton, and I couldnt buy the party line which meant I was the enemy now, Stephanopoulos wrote. I didnt think I was a hypocrite, because my defense of Clinton against past bimbo eruptions had been predicated on my belief that he wouldnt create new ones For several years, I had served as Clintons character witness. Now I felt like a dupe.
And now, decades later, as the highest-profile journalist for ABC News when this same George Stephanopoulos hears that the Clinton Team is engaging in the exact same tactics he was once a part of, he is surprised by that.
