It's a solid 9/10. Good stuff. Couple issues here and there, but it's just little things.

9/10.

Xavier should've known better than to stay at that family's house, though.

Only issue i had was that logan could have easily ended the problem if he had just cut off the clone's head after the farmer rammed him with the truck.

it would have taken 3 seconds

Other than that, 10/10

Part of me wishes they included The Westchester incident, but after that feel good ending of Days of Future of Past the other part is glad they didn't.

8/10. It's a 'Road' clone that's not as good as Cormac McCarthy's actual story The Road. And it's a love letter to a bygone era of the X-Men that we conveniently skipped after Days of the Future of Past. No, Apocalypse does not count, how dare you. So I'm not really sure what it is we're mourning here in this movie. I'd love to see the good old days of the X-Men so I can appreciate whatever it is I've apparently lost. Also another Wolverine movie? Bye girl.

And in someways I feel they could've gone a bit more ballsy here. I want to cut the antagonists here entirely, they're lame and there's nothing complex about them, so they bore me. That Logan x Logan fight, legit pissed me off. It's not not that kind of movie, why you fucking up my good drama moment between Logan and Xavier with your Hollywood action movie bullshit? You think the audience is bored or some shit? UGH. Not every Wolverine movie needs a Sabretooth and in a way Laura is already as risk of becoming that person. CUT IT. Saving Laura from becoming like Wolverine in his savage past is absolutely the heart of this movie, and there's so much trying to distract from that. The antagonists should have been all her friends who were likewise going feral from having been abused by the psychos who created them, and whom they all killed when they escaped. Some can can saved, some can't, and it's up to Logan to save and parent all of them, effectively becoming the next Professor X. That's good drama that doesn't shoot itself in the foot on emotionally empty action sequences. I deserve money, but I'd settle for seeing that bomb ass movie.

Look, I bitch, but only because I like it and want more. If I thought it was shit, I wouldn't care.

And I'm not interested in seeing Bryan Singer ruin Dark Phoenix again. The sooner he gets MeToo'd out of the picture and someone else tackles the golden era of the X-Men without his baggage, better.

I love that they've finally realised that they don't have to sanitize Marvel movies. The 2 best Marvel movies (pre-Black Panther) were R-rated.

Excuse you. Deadpool was not better than Winter Soldier or Avengers 1.

That is all.

I like it. It's an old & frail vs young and full of rage fight, and it shows the sacrifice and pain that logan is willing to go through to save Laura.

I mean, the movie is about what you said, but Wolverine is still Wolverine, it's gotta have some fighting too

4/10

Mediocre, plot hole filled.

It's a string of cliches and stories we've all heard before, but people give it a pass solely because it is grim and dark.

Stewart and Jackman are acting their socks off I'll grant you but it doesn't change the fact that the material is paper-thin.

It's sadly a testament to how you can sell anything to kids just by going "IT's not for kids, look how edgy it is!" See: Hatred

I thought Hatred was ill-received because it was edgy.

As for the rest of your post, eh, I can see what you're getting at. It's mostly the acting/characters that carry it, but reuse of cliches don't bring down material as long as the overall product is decently handled. It's hard to be original with anything nowadays.

I didn't say it would be well received, I said it would sell.

And it did.

See I gotta disagree with this logic, that's just laying down to me.

People have great ideas and come up with cool things all the time, they just get no support because the cliche ideas that make bank... make bank. So they get all the money and promotion.

Let me put it another way.

Hotel Rwanada and White Chicks came out at the same time.

One made over $100 million dollars.

The other didn't even hit 35 million.

Take a guess which is which

It's not about a lack of ideas, it's about as I said, what sells. An actually original interesting new story about Wolverine probably would flop or at least make less money than "We gotta protect the special kid on a road trip against the evil forces stopping us while we take a break at a farm and save the children!" list of "Ideas template 101" that Hollywood loves.

pretty good by x-men movie standards

it's brought way down by the plot being driven by dumb shit like instead of just stabbing pierce logan decided to send the weak albino mutant whose only power is tracking other mutants to drop pierce off somewhere and prof x and logan deciding stop for dinner when they know they're actively being hunted
