I probably would have gone after someone if I had draft picks but alas I do not.

Speaking of draft picks and since everyone seems to be trading them lately, I am looking to acquire any of the following:

A higher pick in the 2nd round
A another pick in the 2nd round
A 3rd round pick
A 1st round pick

I want to say that I am baffled no user team went after Harrison Smith, whom I believe is now the top-rated FS in the league. If I didn't draft Ed Reed's replacement last year, I would have gone hard after him, even with my expected cap woes.

Thought about it but then looked at how likely I would be able to peddle away one of my other FS's and the prospects weren't good as it seems an awful lot of the league has FS'es in like the 86-90 range.

Also out of curiosity could you give me an idea of what 'good' stats look like for FS production? Because my FS'es seem to go up in rating most years and their stat lines look pretty mediocre. So I'm not sure if they have actually been decent or just been piggybacking off the production of my retired SS Jermaine Phillips (because they sure as hell haven't been benefiting from my CB production)

I don't think fs gets much in terms of stats, I think its more tackles than anything

DBs outside of SS do not have eye-popping counting stats. LBs and SSs suck up the tackles, DL and LB the sacks and FFs, and FR is a total crapshoot. INTs seem to be distributed evenly amongst the secondary, though on occasion, you do see a LB with 5+.

Oh so my guys have been putting up pretty decent numbers then.

We don't get to see available draft prospects until after contract renewals right? Reason I ask is I'd position swap someone if a certain position isn't likely to be available in the draft and that player is up for contract renewal. Both positions pay quite a lot differently.

Obviously wouldn't need the full list, just an idea of how many of position X and Y are available in the 1st 2 rounds.

Even kcf doesn't know until we actually move to the draft portion I believe

Yeah, I don't have access to the prospect list until after the next off-season event. Before I reveal them though, I need to go through all their combine stuff and whatnot to figure out who will be renamed and to what.

FYI, one of you had a leading offer for a player that was less than what the player would accept, so I ended up offering them them what they would agree to as opposed to not giving them an offer at all.

Chiefs have signed Dolphins TE Owen Daniels to a 3 year deal. The Dolphins decline to match the offer and receive the Steelers' 4th round pick (via Chiefs).

Lions have signed Patriots CB Darrell Cruz to a 5 year deal. The Patriots have matched the offer.

Panthers have signed Jets OLB Novorro Bowman to a 3 year deal. The Jets have matched the offer.

Rams have signed Cowboys FS Harrison Smith to a 6 year deal. The Cowboys decline to match and receive the Rams' 1st and 3rd round picks.

Well I'm happy with that since with my trades it effectively means I gave a 3rd and a 6th for an 85 rated 25yo QB when my starter would have been an 81. I planned on not resigning Grossman/Cutler regardless

Feel kinda bad for Gant though. He's improved rating despite not playing and also missing an entire year to a preseason injury. And then I grab another QB instead of finally giving him his shot. Although given the level of QB attrition on my team im sure he will see plenty of snaps.

Shame I probably don't have enough cap to get them a better second option WR

Signing Your Remaining Free Agents

Any player of yours whose contract expired and was not part of the previous event will be included here. This is an extremely straightforward event. You either sign or you do not sign players, Those you do stay on your team, those who don't enter the free agent pool.

When you receive the PM with your slash lines, remember that those are not the deals you have to sign them to. With one exception that I will lay out, you can sign anyone (pending the age/max length rule) to deals 1-7 years in length. If you wish to give a player a custom offer, we can bounce PMs off of each other for a while (remember that there is a deadline though and delay in response could be a day or longer). If you wish to offer someone a deal of a different length but do no want to bother with the financials, you can merely say you want to give X player the default deal for Y years.

There are only two wrinkles for this event. One is that a few players might hold out for better deals. I can confirm that one user has a holdout. What happens is that I will isolate them in the PM and tell you their base deal. If you elect not to sign them, they will stay on your team without playing a down for you until you trade them, release them, or give into their contract demands.

The second wrinkle is that some players hate your team to where they will only sign via the franchise tag, which is a one year deal that pays them the average of the Top 5 salaries at their position. I will isolate those players and also tell you how much money that comes out to as of this moment. The franchise tag has only been used twice to my knowledge, so while I am not expecting anyone will use it, but you never know.

Yeah that's kinda my plan too. I foresee a lot of players getting a lot of guaranteed money to try bring numbers down

I'm kinda baffled at how I'm in such a tight cap scenario when I haven't made any big FA signings and my team is thoroughly mediocre. I guess offering defaults all the time and not upping guarantees works out bad in the long run.

Out of curiosity what is the AI cap at? Does it keep rising or has it hit an artificial ceiling? Like 180m or so? Do player demands grow over time with the cap increase or have they stayed static? As I notice a lot of teams in cap trouble this year, seems to be more than usual
