you think it's okay to break procedure and undermine all training.

How do you feel about the officer who successfully sued his department after he was fired following breaking protocol and not opening fire on a man with an unloaded gun?

Or is it only okay to break procedure and ignore training sometimes

he broke procedure at the risk of his own life. this was created for the officer's safety, but we've got generations of examples of police taking these types of risk. sometimes at their own peril, but there are times where that cop became a hero. a cop who successfully deescalates a problem without a life lost has completed the objective.

that officer in particular should have gotten a chewing out, but ultimately congratulated rather than fired.

the officer in question of this topic is a coward, and a completely different situation. he deserves no respect. the man was unarmed, was showing no signs of doing anything that warranted use of a firearm, etc... the world's not black and white.

Damn right. If a person can't handle unarmed weird dudes walking at them without feeling the need to blow them away, if someone is that weak minded they have no god damn business wearing a shield.

Did he really? That's ridiculous. He put the lives of himself and his fellow officers at risk on a hunch. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to work with him.

I wish a cop would shoot the crazy guy who always has his dick out in front of the school. Guy is in 60's,dirty as fuck and always walks around with his pants around his ankles and his dick in full view of everyone. He's been there for over 2 years and I see him almost daily in front of the school (all girls school). I've never seen him beating his meat in front of the school but I only see him for like a minute per day.

He was taking agency in his life and if he was so fucking lucky, he wouldn't have his department break the code of blue for descalating the situation. He wasn't lucky, because there wasn't anything about chance in the circumstance. His actions had causality and he was doing the right thing.

Poor judgement in using lethal force over a taser as his first choice, obviously.

But it's not like he just took his gun to some normal law-abiding citizen. There was a mentally unstable criminal jaywalking in traffic, walking towards the cop and not listening to him when he was told to get down. He had around 15 seconds from the first "get down", yet he refused to comply. He could've stopped walking, or he could've at the very least approached with his hands up, but no, he just continued to move forward after menacingly pointing at the cop. The cop backed up, and the guy continued towards him. He certainly didn't look like he was walking up to have a pleasant conversation. I mean the guy was talking to himself and hitting cars passing by.

So of course being an insane criminal doesn't mean you deserve to die especially since he was an easy target for a taser. But just because he was killed doesn't mean that he was entirely innocent either.

Since when is that a crime? I mean I know spending 3 years in jail for drug-related charges shows you're a criminal, and the hitting passing vehicles doesn't exactly help...But pants? Not sure where that came from.

Cops shouldnt have to put their lives in danger because some idiot criminal thinks he doesnt need to comply with police instructions.

This man was charging a cop who had his gun pointed at him, so Im not feeling sorry for him. Tired of hearing dumb fuck excuses to make criminals into victims despite their numerous stupid actions that lead to their deaths.

That's literally their job. They shouldn't be cops if they're that weak willed and not willing to face danger without blowing people away.

Also, again, innocent until proven guilty. Stupid person or not due process is a right. We don't live in the world of Judge Dredd.

Guy gets into a lengthy fight with the police, breaks the nose of one officer, had a knife on him when searched. Not one bullet fired.

Those officers did a good job. Honestly if i see a guy walking down the street with his pants down my first inclination would not be to shoot him.

If someone punches me in the nose same thing. I'm stronger than a lot of people though apparently.

I'd either walk away, put him in a headlock to restrain him if i was in real danger or someone else or just make some wise ass comment like hope your hand is ok.

Once the knife comes out and there is actual stabbing going on and its it's life or death then the punches might start flying.

It was supposed to at least help educate cjsdowg who wanted to omit the fact that this man was a criminal from his narrative.

I never said he wasn't doing anything criminal. I said his actions were not a capital crime.

Admiral has it in his head that cops should be judge, jury, and executioner if anyone doesn't comply for any reason.

Nope, that isnt their job. Their job is to enforce the law, not put themselves in potentially lethal danger from some moron refusing to comply.

And I'm saying they shouldn't be cops if they can't handle those situations without a kill or be killed mentality. That's weak. It's a dangerous job by nature, don't sign up if you can't handle the heat which clearly this cop couldn't.

Actually their job is to serve and protect first and foremost. Enforcing laws is part of that. But not first and foremost.

IF police officers believe their is an apparent danger laws go out the window. They can beat you to the ground if you are posing a real risk to the public. Honestly if they are out of line you can do teh same thing to protect yourself. It might not go over well but if you can prove you were not a threat and were protecting yourself it's fair game.
