What did they say?

A year ago or so I had some old black guy (who everyone loves. He's like 80 and eccentric and sings and dances and djs and still hits on every girl in the bar) talking about how BLM is a joke and they don't understand racism and they just hate cops because black people commit more crime and they wouldn't have survived Alabama in the day (were in the Bay area, but he grew up out there).

I think a lot of this is overblown but I also think there is an actual problem. It was weird hearing a black guy take this stance in the bay area.

I think cops fire until the target falls, and if there are multiple cops, there can be a lot of shots. It's what they're trained to do.

Pretty sure this has led to a ridiculous number of shots when a suspect is up against a wall, for example.

This is accurate. Also if multiple cops are there if someone fires everyone fires. Some places by regulation but most places its called sympathy fire. You can easily articulate you fired because your fellow cop fired and you believed there was an immediate threat and if more people no one feels responsible for the death and they're now questioning everyone.

He was talking on the phone in his backyard?

Not taking sides here since I don't know the whole story, but what I heard was that the police were chasing him for some reason and he suddenly pulled his phone out of his pocket, leading him to get shot.

Checked a few stories and they're not saying he was currently on the phone. But it happened in his backyard.

they were just talking about it because the news was on. the younger guy said they shot a guy who was holding a camera but first it was a crowbar or something, and how they heard a cop say to turn their cameras off and they left him there for 10 minutes after shooting him

He was talking on the phone in his backyard?

Not taking sides here since I don't know the whole story, but what I heard was that the police were chasing him for some reason and he suddenly pulled his phone out of his pocket, leading him to get shot.

He was busting open car windows, caught on police helicopter cam. Officers caught up to him on foot, told him to stop, and he ran behind his house. When they turned the corner, he pulled his phone on them and they shot him.

Liberals just don't like reality.

Dude was going around smashing car windows and when confronted by police ran through yards, hopped fences, etc.

It was dark, and instead of complying with police he tried to get into the backdoor of his house and when they saw an object in his hand fired, reasonably thinking it was a weapon.

Would you be able to positively identify a dark object in the hand of a fleeing criminal at night who has turned to face you? Especially when, if it is a gun, you or your partner are likely shot or dead? The answer is no.

This was an unfortunate outcome to a situation brought onto the guy entirely by his own doing.
