Mainly you don't have to deal with anyone else's shit and you can just do whatever you want and have things the way you want without having to give a damn about other people. Peace and quiet whenever you want it, not having to share bathrooms, the list goes on and on. Like another user already mentioned, be sure to go out or invite people over often though.
