My man, same here
There's something about Jack Kennedy's political courage and modern attitude that really makes him stick out. I don't think we'll have another president as charming as him

Yeah, Teddy Roosevelt is probably my favorite.
Just awesome dude, and seemed to genuinely be trying to help out the people w/ trust busting, FDA, national parks system, etc...
Plus he came the closest to busting the two party system anyone ever has...at the expense of putting Wilson in office (though Taft wasn't any better, so meh)

And for the sake of naming a more obscure President...#2 choice would be James Monroe. Dude was so popular by the whole country that he basically ran unopposed the 2nd election, and one elector had to "go rogue" and vote for someone else just to keep him from being the only president other than Washington to get a 100% sweep of the electoral college.
You don't unite the country that much w/o being really damn good at your job, and the Monroe Doctrine is one of the best lasting presidential legacies we've ever had (yes, I know he didn't write it, he's still the one who delivered it and had the guts to tell the European super powers to leave the New World alone).

Oddly enough for the people saying Teddy, he is probably the president who is the most like Trump. I mean if Twitter was a thing 110 years ago, Trumps twitter feed is probably what you would have seen out of Teddy.

Anyways, for me it is Jackson. Probably the closest to a Libertarian president we have ever had.

Uh...NO. Teddys most famous motto was "speak softly and carry a big stick."
Trump is the exact fucking opposite of that ethos!
Plus, Teddy was the biggest trust-buster we've ever had as president and promoted a ton of federal regulations (FDA) and created the national parks system, claiming stretches of nature as public land for the public good. Trump actively is trying to destroy regulations that protect people and give away public lands to private industry, and has a plethora of corporate CEOs in his cabinet.
They literally could not be more opposite.

Not surprised a fan of Genocide Jackson* doesn't know his history too well. Coincidentally, Jackson is a lot like Trump, which is probably why Trump admires him so much. Gotta love that spoils system....

*Ok, "Ethnic Cleansing Jackson" is more accurate, but doesn't roll off the tongue as well

And just like Trump he never followed his own advice. There are ton of examples of him basically yelling and screaming his way though his presidency to force what he wanted through congress.

Plus, if you want to bring up "Ethnic Cleansing", look at what Teddy did in Panama.

It basically comes down to him getting our troops out of the South since only further damage could've been done and further division if reconstruction continued (although lots of damage HAD been done), and restoring some faith in politics in the 19th century (before it went to shit again). He's also got the distinction of being the first president to graduate law school.

He was also the first president since Lincoln that wasn't outwardly awful at the time since his predecessors had a lot of scandals and poor decisions under their belt. In specifics, Johnson was notable for vetoing everything, starting the flawed reconstruction, and making pretty much no ground whatsoever. Grant wasn't great either, and he got a lot of flack for hiring corrupt people and just dragging reconstruction along.

Finally, in the line of progression, he instated a law that women could argue to the supreme Court about things, another stride in women's rights.

For the criticisms against him, the big one is that reconstruction's end beckoned the beginning of the Jim Crow period of history, but I fault that on reconstructionist policies to begin with. Johnson put a lot in place just to punish the south, and making African Americans the scape goat for that was inevitable for the time. The other major hate for Hayes was out of his control, too. People don't like that he won since he honestly shouldn't have. He lost by a margin of 200,000-ish votes but a recount was called due to voter fraud in a select few states. They all gave their electoral votes to Hayes.

Jackson was also extremely unfit for president
He was a crazy soldier and responsible for the trail of tears.
He ignored creating a reasonable, economic system from Henry Clay because he held a personal grudge at him!

To be fair, the topic asks who your favorite President is, not who you think was objectively best or the most productive or accepted by the nation as a whole. And whether out of morbid amusement by his hijinks, or because you love how he tends to piss off a very specific sort of person the most (which may be a specific sort of person you also dislike), or just because you hate the system as a whole and are hoping he eventually burns the whole fucking thing down, there are plenty of valid reasons why someone my see him as their favorite.

Hell, even "because I loved his WrestleMania appearances" would be a valid reason if you don't really care all that much about previous Presidents (or actively dislike a lot of the more recent ones).

I mean, fuck, Clinton was a terrible President yet tons of 90s kids only ever see him as "that guy who seemed like he'd be a cool dude to go have drinks with" and use that to justify why they consider him the bestest President evar, so the standard we've already set for ourselves is pretty damned low.
