Unfortunately, blizzard has yet to match their generosity when old gods came out two years ago.

I'd say with the legendary drop changes they are about as generous. They don't give quite as many packs out but it's essentially two free legendaries now. I think all the freebies from Mammoth year are still up, but they might be going away as soon as the next set hits (they said Maiev is for sure), so I'd get on that while you can.

You'll probably have to dust a lot of your collection to make a good deck. If you plan on sticking with the game, then collecting the next 3 sets will help you stay in Standard for the next two years. If dusting most every card you have sounds unappealing, or if you think you'll lapse in and out of the game, then honestly consider Wild. You'll still have to scrounge for dust, and it's not as new and shiny as Standard, but your cards won't "go bad."

Those changes sound good but blizzard on a continuous basis have shown they don't know what they are doing when it comes to arena. We'll see i guess.

Also I hit rank 20 in wild from like 25. I think I dropped 3 games the entire time. But it took so long and I played the fastest deck (mage which is the only deck I have made for wild). Like five stars at rank 25 sucks.

i'm curious to see how they rank card strength. use the hearth arena tier list and be done with it!

I'm sure we'll see lots of cards that seem very disparate in strength though, but I'm sure there'll be times where they are similar but the player doesn't agree...

those arena only cards are insane though

they have access to more data than even hearth arena does. they'll probably use their own data.

I'd say both of these are likely yeah. for the first, I mean, statistical analysis is good but it's not perfect. there will certain be some cards that slip through the cracks. as for the second... definitely. everyone has their own opinion and we can't all be right.

I think cly's claim is that Blizzard, in spite of having better data, may use a flawed system. Of course, we'll never know if it's actually flawed or just appears that way.

Well, I got that quest out of the way. Nef was trolling me with his hero power, I was more likely to get a spell that I couldn't play, actually couldn't play, than a good one.

Nothing like going to play ladder on a different region where you have no collection, starting out at rank 25 0 stars and having your first two games be against full Cubelock and full Spiteful Summoner Priest.

Edit: Game three a little dated, someone is running Pirate Warrior at 25-0. Game four Jade Druid. Game 5 was Quest Warrior. Ended up beating that and the Jade Druid to get my damn 40 gold...

Even if I was that rich, and that stupid with my money, and actually liked golden cards, I don't think I'd be able to do it. It would drive me crazy having an entire golden collection minus two cards.

So I hit rank 5 in wild. About a 60% win rate going from 15-5. Like I played three decks (Burn Mage, Combo and a dragon combo priest). Both priest decks went a little better than 50% (because I'm honestly not that good at piloting them). The mage went about 60% (49-32). It has like a 32% win rate versus paladin... but positive versus everything else besides warrior and shaman (which I lost all my games to but only played them once each so that's not really a stat).

I started at 25 but played all those games on my phone so I dont have stats for those. But I went x-3 to 20 and x-7 or so to 15.

So played standard like 10 games or so

After a few games of having the worst luck with Murloc paladin (lost three mirrors and to toast who was playing quest mage but to be fair I made a massive misplay that might have cost me the game) I changed to cubelock (a deck Im not that good with actually) and just farmed paladins. Managed to break into the top 200. Good times

Nothing worse than DK-evolving a board of 2-7-7 cost minions and getting a */*, 2/4 and 3/3 out of the deal. Lowrolled the shit out of that one.
