Yeah. And I can't imagine they would be willing to just give up the dog for someone they barely know either. Although if they are, that would set of some red flags imo.

Most people won't say it outright but you can bet that for a lot of people if the pets don't like you they'll feel a certain level of apprehension towards you too. Most pet owners seem to believe their pets have a special gift when it comes to judging character.

Honestly, most dogs take to most people after being introduced. If a dog consistently dislikes a person I take that as a sign that person is a piece of shit. There are times that's not the case, sure. But as a general rule I get it.

Jokes aside this tactic really works.

I remember dogsitting for my friend's dog. She kept telling me it would never work because "princess" (her ferocious shitzu) hates men and people in general.

And yeah, the dog did hate me at first, but a couple of schmakos and 5 minutes later we were old friends.
