Out of these options

I have a tough time deciding between GC, Wii and Wii U.

- GC has the worst 3D Mario and Zelda games, but some good stuff like Melee and (I assume, haven't played) Metroid, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, etc.
- Wii has forced motion controls, but some games were great despite it.
- Wii U didn't last long enough and didn't get a "real" Mario game, but I loved Mario Maker and 3D World was a decent substitute.

In the end I'd probably go with GC since Mario and Zelda are the bread and butter of any Nintendo console, and with those lackluster games it feels like the least essential Nintendo console to me. Especially so with both Zeldas getting remastered, but I'm not sure if that's fair. I'd say that GameCube is my least favorite now, but Wii was my least favorite at the time each respective one was current.

What is wrong with N64? I frequently see people make the "not enough" games argument, but it's not like any Nintendo console after it was the leader for third-party either. The great games it did have were awesome. Maybe some of them didn't age well, but I still find a lot of the good ones playable.

The Wii U was bad. Smash Bros was pretty much the only AAA game. I think I've already put more hours into my Switch than my Wii U, and if I haven't, Smash Bros is the only thing to blame.

Wii U didn't have a lot of great original games, but it was a decent console for VC and remasters. I'm a little surprised how much people dislike it so far. Though I'm not sure if people are trying to vote for the objective worst even though the question is your personal least favorite.

Mario Maker is the best game IMO (if you don't count BotW) though I don't know if it's really AAA in the typical sense. Regardless, I got so many hours out of it and think it's a huge bright spot for the console. MK8 is one of the best Mario Karts too.

Oh crap, how did I forget about Majora's Mask?!!!

But I included Duke Nukem 64 because I thought it was a solid port, gameplay wise. Deathmatch and cooperative split screen? Secondary ammunition and stuff? Obvoiusly, the censorship is silly in a Duke Nukem game, but I still thought it was a good port.

The WiiU's kind of a tricky one to assess. Objectively, the library was small. Probably too small, really. It did have some absolutely delightful gems in there, though, and it worked phenomenally well as a companion system to a gaming PC.

SNES > Switch > GameCube > Wii > Wii U > N64 > NES

Terrible taste is terrible, I know, but I can't stomach more than a handful of N64 games these days, and I can't bear to play a minute of a single NES game. Not to say those systems didn't have great games, but they certainly don't feel great to play anymore.

I grew up with the SNES and the N64, and even I'd say the N64 does not hold up. Yes, I absolutely loved popping in Banjo, Bomberman Hero, Chameleon Twist, Snowboard Kids, and Pokemon Snap after coming home from school every day, but would I replay a single of those games these days? Well, I tried a few years back, and not a single one (save maybe Pokemon Snap) was enjoyable.

If voting based purely on nostalgia, oh yeah, the N64 is absolutely up there. But then I look at the SNES, and I loved the games when I played them back then, and nowadays as well. Hell, just this week I've been playing SNES games I missed out on, and they're more fun than most modern games I've played.

NES: it was great at the time, and remember enjoying as a kid, though aged poorly, it was a great piece of hardware back in the day
SNES: Best console from Nintendo IMO, and was the bes5 in its generation IMO. Had most fun playing the games on this system, more then any other.
N64: Lots of great games, though now looks dated, it was early 3d so it was a product of the time
GCN: I really enjoyed most of the games here, and also one of the best console controllers
Wii: Hated the motion controls, only games i really enjoyed was SSBB and Mario Kart
WiiU: Was an improvement over the Wii, but fell short for software.
Switch: havent played anything on it yet, so cant say.

Or in my case too old since the N64 came out when I was in my teens and I didn't want to play those types of games anymore. Plus people forget that the emulation scene for the N64 was literally in full effect less then a year after it was released. Hell, I beat Mario 64 in 98 without ever touching a N64 controller on a mid-range computer.

Gamecube was awesome due to Melee and REMake (and Monkey Ball, Wind Waker, Prime series, etc.), The Wii U even has a bunch of awesome games and the tablet controller is actually pretty awesome. N64 was just a mess of a console that was held back by reliance on cartridges and the worst controller Nintendo ever produced.

It's hard for me to pick a least favorite nintendo console. notable exclusive games for me for each system:

NES: SMB1-3, Kirby, Metroid

Snes: super metroid, SMW, Kirby Superstar, Kirby's Dreamland 3, ALttP, Mario Kart, Super Mario All-Stars

N64: SM64, OoT,MM, SSB,Star Fox

GCN: melee, sunshine, wind waker, Metroid prime 1 and 2

Wii: galaxy 1 and 2, prime 3, twilight princess (yeah, I know it was on Gamecube as well), Brawl

Wii u: Bayo 2, smash 4, Mario 3d world, Mario maker, Botw(I played it on wii u), mario kart 8

switch: odyssey, splatoon 2

I'm probably gonna have to say nes was my least favorite. I still love the nes, but I was born in 1991, and while we did have a nes, I don't really have many memories of playing on an actual nes (I have played a lot of games on the virtual console and on emus).

Because options are good. That, and the joycons make a lot of sense for using the system portably, given how easily they slip into a pocket and how little they add to the system's profile when attached. The pro controller's great, but it's pretty bulky to try and transport.

I got into gaming in the last days of the NES and I feel it's unfair to judge the Wii U since it was such a shit show. Out of the consoles I got a full console experience with, I'd say the Wii was the worst. I was on the fence between it and the GC but then I remembered GC has gems like Melee, WW, Pikmin, Skies of Arcadia, Tales of Symphonia, and more that I absolutely loved.

On the other hand, out of all the Wii games I played, the only ones I look back fondly on are SSBB and Xenoblade Chronicles. Two games that stood out to me. I liked the Wii in part because it was so easy to hack but in terms of games and how much impact it had on me, it's easily the worst. SSBB pretty much carried my playtime on the thing.

Pretty much.

SNES > GCN > N64 > NES > Wii > Switch > WiiU

The Switch is only so low because it hasn't been out long. I'm sure it'll jump a place or two when Metroid Prime 4 and Shin Megami Tensei V come out, among others.

The SNES and GCN have more of my absolute favorite games than any of the other consoles (and a bunch of good and great games besides), but the former certainly has the more fleshed out library. The N64 and NES also have some all-time greats, but I think them being the first of the 3D and 2D eras respectively hurts them slightly (in terms of graphics and playability), especially the NES. That's not a knock against them; their successors are just better in that regard IMO. The NES might deserve to be higher, but I missed the boat on it slightly.

The Wii isn't bad (in fact it's pretty good in its own way), but I'd take any console above it, except *maybe* the NES.

I actually did like Jet Force Gemini (I'm guessing this is what you meant), until you have to go back through the entire game again collecting every native.

The reason I brought up the big name games is because those seem to be the games people bring up any time someone says they don't like the console. It took over 15 years before I finally played a game I liked on it (that being my second attempt at Paper Mario). I am willing to give the system a chance and am always looking out for games on it. The big problem with that is, because of my huge backlog (and to somewhat reign in my spending), I limit myself to CiB games and those are hard to come by for N64.

And I despise the controller, so it doesn't matter what game it is since you have to (notwithstanding that Wavebird controller I've heard about but never actually seen) use that thing to play it. That's a big reason why I dislike the system.

Well, besides SMB, it also had some of the best Mega Man games. However, in general, the way the NES's library aged (and, even for the time, it had a lot of terrible cash-ins) is kinda why GC and NES is almost a toss-up for second for me.

N64 will always get my vote as the worse Nintendo console.

As a RPG fan, I had no real reason to purchase a N64. The decision by Nintendo to go with cartridges instead of optical discs ultimately doomed the console IMHO.

I finally did purchase one years after it was released, along with two Zelda games and After Dark (along with an "upgrade module" that apparently was optional, but was needed for the Zelda games...??). I found the new format 3D Zelda games virtually unplayable (I certainly preferred the older 2D format). Ultimately, I only played the console for a day or so.

At the time of my life when all of this was happening, I was in my 30s and so sick of anything that had "Mario" stamped on it that I never even considered any of those games.

I know a lot of people really enjoyed the console, but these are MY reasons for voting it as my least favorite Nintendo system. However, I never owned a Wii or Wii-U, so I cannot comment on those. Owned the rest of the Nintendo consoles.

Who the fuck voted for N64 and GC when Wii u exists??

The N64 marked the decline of third party support for Nintendo. The GC affirmed it.

Dead serious, I can't name a Nintendo console with better third party support than the GameCube.
