...disturb sign? If you didn't hear this is in response to the shooting rampage that happened in las vegas earlier this year. Iirc the shooter had a do not disturb sign on his vegas hotel room that hotel staff honored but he was stockpiling a very large amount of weapons. I know that disney said that hotel staff will still come in now even if that is on your door and that you have to get special permission for them to not enter your room. Do you care? Idk what else the hotel people could do though

really? i've never experienced or really heard of hotel staff stealing shit. You don't think it's more likely that your cable guy might steal your shit than hotel people? The cable guy stuff i have heard of

Cant blame them for it

Think about if you were in their position. You can either say:

A) It was just a rare occurrence, it wont happen again so no need to make drastic policy changes

Or

B) Well now that word is out in how to plan this attack (stockpiling weapons with a DND sign to not attract attention) We should plan for something so this doesnt happen again. Its a very reasonable control to have now with so many psychos and the access they have to weapons.

Im pretty sure you can deadbolt/safety latch on the door tho, so you can still do things without having people walk in on you/your guest

So the hotel worker is safe when they barge into a deadly gang with arsenal stash? Never mind the disregard for customer privacy; do the employees like this policy?

If someone starts opening the door to a locked room that me and a loved one may possibly be sleeping naked in, they are going to be staring down the barrel of a loaded gun when the door opens. I don't play with my family's safety. Sorry.

That sounds like it's going to end up being more trouble than it's worth, given that people are going to be demanding compensation when a cleaner inevitably walks in on something compromising. A more moderate policy would be more sensible, such as saying they guests will be disturbed after having the DND sign up continuously for a certain length of time (maybe 3-4 days), as well as taking steps to minimize how disruptive that disturbance is (such as knocking first, then calling the room to give notice that somebody's coming, then going in). An absolute removal of DND signs isn't going to help that much, though, and will end up pissing a lot of innocent people off.

I mean the point of those tags is for if youre sleeping or maybe doing something intimate and you dont want anyone coming into the room. So those situations can obviously still occur.

You look EXTREMELY immature when you announce that you're about to ignore someone. No one cares, including the person about to be ignored. Just FYI.

Just for the record because TC is a dope.

Instead, Disney has provided a Room Occupied sign, but the small text says Disney employees still have the right to enter the room when it is displayed for maintenance, safety, security or any other purpose.
