Yikes. We've got a high of -6F today and I thought figured it couldn't possibly be any worse. Converting it, it looks like that's only -21C.

How do humans even survive that? Serious question. I've never experienced temperatures below 0 C.

Yeah, it was -37 here in Lethbridge before that -50 wind chill.

Supposed to be closer to 0 by tomorrow afternoon though. That will honestly feel warm after this.

I was visiting my mom yesterday and she got her car stuck in the snow in front of her house. We spent half an hour getting her unstuck.

The moisture from my breath froze my scarf stiff as cardboard within minutes, making it useless. I've never seen that happen before.

I like how Regina (where I live) is just in the corner of the map like "I'm here too guys..."

And yeah, it's annoyingly cold.

By minimizing time spent outside and covering as much skin as you possibly can with heavy clothing when you do have to be out. In general, though, you do get acclimatized to a certain extent. Not usually to extremes like that, since those are very seriously dangerous temperatures, but if you're used to cold winters -10 or -20 can be brushed off pretty comfortably.

Yeah, you definitely never get used to -30 or colder. That always just feels awful. But -20 you do get used to. And -10 starts feeling nice after a long stretch of really cold weather. Not uncommon to see people wearing spring/fall jackets in -10 weather near the end of the winter.

It's also important to note that if you do need to go anywhere, you generally should start your vehicle 10 minutes before you leave to get it warmed up. If it's below -20, you should have your vehicle plugged in because otherwise it might not start.

I didn't have my truck plugged in when it got to -30 a few days ago, and it started but it really didn't sound good. I've had it plugged in all night and I'm about to go outside to start it. At these temperatures there is still no guarantee.

That's like May/June weather here. Lucky.

We reached 16C in early December. How things change.

Yeah, about a month ago I seen a weather post about a atmospheric river continuing to pummel California. To which I replied; "What that light drizzle we had for half a day?"
