So today I heard a bunch of rich people literally saying "Video games are what Poor and MIddle class people do because they can't afford real entertainment. A genius invention to keep there feeble minds distracted from there awful live. They clearly have no idea how to make money so they spend there days playing pretend fantasy games while working for barely any descent living. I've heard some play up to 4-7 hours a day! What a waste! You could be getting an education and a better job to improve your life. "

This angered me as I'm considered upper middle class, I'm not rich, I went to college, I make my own money through my business which I started and run. If i want to play a few hours a RPG or Mario game instead of doing drugs or playing the stock market, what do they care?

But that's not incompatible with what you're claiming they said. They're discussing people who play obsessively, not the casual user. And their stereotype isn't entirely wrong, considering there are a lot of gamers who make no effort to better themselves and hold menial jobs where they just aim to scrape by.

And, to be completely honest, I'm not sure I personally know any gamers who are also millionaires. Granted, most of the millionaires I know are older and probably didn't grow up with games. However, even the one who kinda worked in the game industry at one point doesn't game now.

Depends what you mean by "high-end." If you're talking about upgrading annually? Yeah, that's a bit too much for anyone on a budget. If you're content with doing it every few years, though, and don't spend any other money on entertainment? It's still potentially cost-effective to be viable (disregarding the fact that living in a higher-crime neighbourhood with a high-value PC leaves one particularly vulnerable to a break-in).

Again, depends on how you're defining "high-end." A $2000 computer that's updated every five years is going to offer performance that would definitely qualify as high-end, given how slowly games are advancing (due in part to console cycles), and spending $400-500 per year (depending on the number of games purchased and how many sales were taken advantage of) on entertainment is not inconceivable even in a lower income bracket, if that's all you spend. Spending $3-4000 a year on top-of-the-line parts, however, is much less affordable.

Basically, it's the difference between "high-end" in terms of practical application and "high-end" in terms of e-peen stroking. The former is surprisingly affordable. The latter isn't, by the very nature of defining your self-worth based on how much money you've spent.

Odd because rich people are the ones keeping the largest growing segment of gaming alive. Mobile games. Also introducing mobile game practices to console games because of said rich people because devs want those whale players who spend 10k a month.

Protip: In most persuasive writing, it's best to look at the final paragraph if you want a TL;DR version. That's usually where you'll find a summary of the conclusions being drawn in the piece. The first sentence usually just establishes the premise to be discussed and doesn't present any sort of position to consider.

Granted, given that you seem to think that anything over a hundred words is too complicated to even try reading, I'm not sure you'll have the comprehension skills to glean a point from a short summary, but I figure it's a good idea for you to hold as you move forward in your education.

See like right here. I can assume without reading that this is 2 paragraphs of you stating and restating the same point over and over again just to make it drawn out.

If you can say it in once sentence, say it in once sentence. That is about as much attention as I am willing to afford someone with your terrible opinions.

"Middle class" and "barely and decent living" are contradictory

The last part could apply to anyone with any income or standard of living. By that logic nobody should seek entertainment.
