For the last few years I've been living in SoCal and the Seattle area, I moved to Indiana for cheaper rent and because my family lives here. But I want to live somewhere a bit more liberal (lets say for medical reasons if you catch my drift like i really like green capitalism) but I still want to be semi close to my family so I am thinking I'll move to Michigan.

Where should I move to? I want to live somewhat close to a mid sized city for more job options but also not like in the middle of Detroit.

I moved to Michigan in 2014. I regret it. If you move here, go to a large city. All the small towns are like southern towns stuck in the 1950s. Confederate flags everywhere and 80 year old guys saying the n word all the time.
