Maybe the thing with the roller coaster is, being strapped in, and not being able to fly where ever you want, so it makes it more exciting for a pegasus perhaps? Also, Davis is alive, so that's good. ...And now Grandma Tyrell is my new favorite. This marriage sounds very nice! Digimon Tri 23: Tai is alive! I was kinda expecting it, but I'm mixed between relief and feeling like it's a bit of a copout. And hey, looks like the 02 gang will show up soon! Maybe. STEAM BATTLE R2 #1- Phantom Brave: Spent 15 minutes messing with key bindings and trying to get the daggum bottle mail before giving up on the latter. We'll have to do without this run....or actually, we'll have another shot since I didn't finish the tutorial or save before it. ~_~ Trails: I guess we have to go get stuff for Agate so Tita won't be sad. The Limestone Cavern is a lot easier with an extra party member and some extra levels, but boy was that penguin boss a hoss. How much fat did he have to burn? Persona: Time to bust up Monsanto or something I guess! I want to spitball that Goro is either Haru, or Haru's brother or something, but those angles are covered by Naoto and Sae already. Time for the big boss fight, it seems. STEAM BATTLE #9- SanctuaryRPG: Black Edition: Just kinda messed around with the Arena, the procedural dungeons, and a side area I found. I kinda wish I remember how to activate that werewolf stuff, but I don't want to look it up. No real plot progress, but my barbarian is rockin' and rollin'! ...Which usually means I'm about to die horribly, as this game goes. THE VERDICT: It's odd because both Phantom Brave and SancturayRPG come into this battle with a lot more experience than most games in these brackets. Both are games that I have gotten to early midgame, and both are games I know that I like and want to play again. Not much has changed in either instance, so looking at the short term....one of them had me frustrated before getting out of the tutorial, and the other left no such bad taste in my mouth. Tiny bit of an upset perhaps, but Sanctuary moves on! I suspect eliminating the top seed makes the lower half of the bracket the side to beat, but we'll see. I'd be a bit surprised if Steins or FFVII won this, but any game that made it to round 2 has a punching chance. RP1: oh hey, the storied "human female who has never had a sex change" line! It is approximately the third-cringiest thing about parcival hitting on art3mis. He goes on to have feelings deep in the soft, chewy caramel center of his being. That one girl opens a door! Cueto gives the Crew a MAIN EVENT MATCH~~~....against the comedy faces. He pressures them to maximize the damage done. I did enjoy the closing credits, though, and they left plenty of room for more. (which appears to be happening?) LP MGS3 19-1: Oh man this whole motorcycle sequence is pretty dang cool, and the effect is enhanced by using the gun that makes Snake yell. OotS: Crystal showed back up for two seconds, and now we're off to the Godsmoot! I appreciate the snippets of Durkon history. MLP 8-6- Surf and/or Turf: Man the parents seem to get along well for being separated o_O I do kinda enjoy the hippogriffs and sea ponies and wouldn't mind seeing more of 'em. Persona: We're on to the spaceport! I think we're being manipulated, but I'm not sure yet how or by whom. I was gonna say we should go for the fiance, but then he was the first boss. I feel like we're gonna wind up with a politician as the big bad- maybe somebody taking out all competition, including Okumura? Anyway Haru is an archetype I usually like, but she's not quite clicking with me for whatever reason. Might just be a mood. I do like her outfit at least! She gets Ryuji's spot for the moment because I am tired of him bein' a jerk. All I got from that is that he's probably a rudo. Texano then puts away Super Fly in a match that I really wanted to be not a two minute squash. (*1/2) Alberto runs in on Texano afterwards. Cage gets a non-title match to become #1 Contender. Chavo quits, boooo. Cueto is worried about "the gods." The one girl finds somebody she wanted to kill for a long time. The Crew brutalize Mascarita and Pimpanella, taking them out of the match early. Sexy Star ALMOST manages to Cena her way past all three, but has to settle for a rollup when Ryck walks in and stands menacingly. I really want him to have a big scar on his chest to complete the Sagat ensemble. This was a weak choice for a main event. Disgaea has a very special place in my heart that I don't think FFVII can overcome in a vaccuum, but I've beated Disgaea twice and FFVII I've never finished disc 1. That is likely FFVII's best shot at winning. Anyway, I wouldn't have tried to play this on lunch break if I'd remembered about the timed sections...or if I'd remembered how much Barrett hates pizza. I'm just havin' lunch dude, not destroying the planet, calm down. Anyway, got to the little slumtown place, but am doing some exploring before I go in the bar. I quite wish this game had save anywhere and an autorun setting. Jessie's kinda cool, and Barrett's better than I remember. Setting isn't my jam, but I know you get out of the city eventually. Disgaea hasn't won yet, but I've not seen much that would incline me to bet against it! Disgaea has a very special place in my heart that I don't think FFVII can overcome in a vaccuum, but I've beated Disgaea twice and FFVII I've never finished disc 1. That is likely FFVII's best shot at winning. Anyway, I wouldn't have tried to play this on lunch break if I'd remembered about the timed sections...or if I'd remembered how much Barrett hates pizza. I'm just havin' lunch dude, not destroying the planet, calm down. Anyway, got to the little slumtown place, but am doing some exploring before I go in the bar. I quite wish this game had save anywhere and an autorun setting. Jessie's kinda cool, and Barrett's better than I remember. Setting isn't my jam, but I know you get out of the city eventually. Not planning to update here much unless something notable happens...but today I beat it for the first time! Plenty of post-game stuff to do and unlock, but for now I'm pleased with the efforts of my combo Rogue. MLP 8-7- Horse Play: Celestia is a secret theater geek? I'm sold on this episode before the opening! .....that said, it's hitting a bit close to home after my experience on staff for high school musicals :P Starting the lessons with improv seems questionable, but at least we sneaked in a "yes, and!" Fun fact I met Wifebolo at an improv workshop! The last minute lead change stressed me out, but if our kids can swing it, I guess Fluttershy can too! She's rocking the costume tho. This was a good ep, although I feel kinda bad that after 8 seasons we still never listen to Applejack. Lucha 1-16: Whozit is tied up in somebody's trunk oh noooo. Drago/Aerostar rematch, nice! Solid stuff, again. (*) They're even now, so Cueto makes it best of five for a "unique opportunity." The production team pulls a sweet hype package out of Cuerno running the ropes, making up for the earlier disbelief-reinforcing cheesiness with showing the girl in the car. They Call Him Cage will face Puma for a title shot. I have never liked that stip- it's pretty obvious who usually wins and gives away the match ahead of time to boot. Some nasty looking bumps so far tonight, and not in the good way, but they find the groove eventually. Konnan makes his return to throw in the towel. Treachery, probably! () Sexy Star and Cueto talk about...something, probably. "Speaking Spanish" thanks Netflix! Big Ryck comes up. Pentagon kills a jobber. (N/A) Fans sure do love this heel, lol. Mundo and Cuerno waste no time makin' with the flippydoos. Good stuff!....into a double countout. () Brawl to the back time! "It's like a fight, man." Archer/Mage was the winning combo on Novice Dragon after about a half dozen failed runs. ...Man, if it took that much to beat the first dungeon on easy, that's kinda scary. There's progression, but it's very slow compared to Monster Slayer. Shortly thereafter, I beat it on Normal with the same combo, but it looks like trying Hyrda is actually the better path for progression. ASoIaF: So we are having to pay a dragon AND all our stuff, which we really don't want to do, and in return we are getting ALL the Unsullied, which are the main thing keeping this city and industry together. We're not big fans of the slavers, either. I wonder if this is going the direction I think it is? STEAM BATTLE #2- DDLC: I like how round two of the bracket kinda wound up themed- the battle of the games I already like, the battle of the RPGs, and today the battle of the VNs. Just ignore the remaining Glittermitten/Recettear match. Anyway. Hints of dark undercurrents are becoming more obvious, although I dunno if I'd pick them up if I hadn't had some vague spoilers. I don't like telling Sayori that I'd walk home with Natsuki, but I don't think I'm gonna get out of many of these situations easily, and I am being honest. I do wish I could write actual poems in this game because there's no way I am assembling all these words into anything coherent, lol. This game came out in English originally Monika you weirdo. Being nice to Bryeen was all it took I guess, although your guess is as good as mine why it didn't improve my opinion of Catlyn. Also, I retroactively want a book that's centered on Tywin and Mellisaunde, for the sole purpose of hearing Roy Dotrice voice lots of lines for them. One Deck Dungeon: Novice Hydra BEATED Nadesico 9- The Miracle Operator of the Kiss: I think the takeaway from this is that Akito remembers Yurika kissing him, but Yurika doesn't. There's shenanigans with a holodeck and a polar bear, but this ep was mostly romcom stuff. I'm not that into Yurika or Megumi, so Akito acting vaguely towards them (and ignoring girls I like better) is not my favorite harem setup. Hey, they have a different band tonight! Muertes comes out sans Catrina to battle Fenix. Cool rana spot on the outside before the match even starts! Some really nice power spots and really nice selling here. Catrina shows up, BUT WHOSE SIDE IS SHE ON??? Doesn't matter in-match, as Mil wins clean. (**) Catrina refuses to do the lick of death thing, and is about to get a beatdown when Fenix makes the save...with The Rock From The Rubble! MIL gets the lick of death! Fenix gets a smooch and we're not sure that's a good thing either. Konnan gets a neat little hype vid for whatever reason. Ivelisse thinks she's #1 Contender material. She'll have a rematch with Angelico, with Havoc as guest ref, for whatever reason. Alberto wants Puma to retain and then wants to beat him for the belt. Ryck and Sexy have a match for the right to fight the Crew. Sexy already had to wrestle them by herself last week, and Ryck can just run in and bulldoze them any time he wants, so I am not sure what this accomplishes in kayfabe. Ryck squashes Sexy as gently as possible and then they both get beaten down by the Crew. (N/A) SoS: I'm guessing that Sam's gonna shank Craster eventually...either that or the wights are gonna come to play. Trails: We have commenced the virtuous mission. Does indeed look like all my fave military people are behind this. :\ But they might have a mole or two among them! Anyway we have the good prof and I'm sure our exit will go off without any kind of hitch. STEAM BATTLE #7- Steins;Gate: DDLC has this on the ropes, but it's still got a path to victory. So far, both games have only begun to hint at their real meat. DDLC is winning on a comparison of setup material, but Steins has a chance here to get to "the good part" first. If that good part lives up to B8's hype, it could pull out a win here. We meet Lukako, Mr. Braun, and Amane, all of whom seem quality. Amane early pick for best girl. I don't remember if I mentioned it earlier, but I like the art. Kinda different. THE VERDICT: I'm curious about both, and don't feel I can FULLY judge either yet, but it's decision time. One of these I should be able to wrap up quickly and move on to another game, and the other I can just watch the anime instead, to say nothing of DDLC being further up my alley.
