The death of Carl Grimes played by Chandler Riggs was a shock to the viewers AND to the actor as well as he had no idea he was getting written off from the show as he JUST bought a HOUSE in Georgia!!

The 18 y/o actor previously said that he was going to college and viewers speculated that he would leave the show so he can go to college full time..but the actor shot down those rumours and said that was not the case.

Chandler joined the show when he was 11 years old and was one of the last remaining original actors of the show which is now down to 3, Melissa McBride, Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus.

Chandler said he has one episode left which will be his farewell episode to the show and said he had a blast being on the show and said that his death is good for the storyline that Scott Gimple, the showrunner is taking the show.

He learned of his firing back in June when they were doing rehesarsals for the show and read the script. Scott asked to see him in private because it was a "big deal" and told him w hat was gonna happen. He needed a reason for Rick to finally seal the deal to kill Negan and the death of his own son would be the catalyst.

Although it was devastating for him and his family because the show had been such a huge part of his life and he just a bought a house for them in Georgia, he has no qualms about his death. He plans to move to LA to focus more on acting an dmusic and is excited to move on with his life for new opportunities...(he can finally cut his awful hair too)

He made the same mistake as Emily Kinney who played Beth as she sobbed on The Talking Dead when she found out she was fired from the show as well when her death was impending as she bought a CONDO..

Do you think it was cruel to fire a kid actor who just bought a house? let's see what people think.

He knew he was gonna die for a while, does not really matter what big purchases he's made recently or not. Everyone dies eventually on the tv show anyways. It also doesn't mean he has zero income after this.

They weren't fired. Their character is leaving the show, and naturally that means the actor won't be hired for further episodes. To say they were "fired" implies they were removed from the project before fulfilling their role.

He's not confirmed to be dead nor do we know if he'll die. For all we know he may be immune.

"Mistake" implies that it's somehow their fault, which it isn't. They had no control over being kept or enough foreknowledge to decide differently.

I'd love to play in a show like that, and I'd like to buy a house.
Also this person wasn't fired. This person is just not needed in the next season of filming. A very common thing in a series like this. The actors know this. And they know when they'll get to read the script.

The same thing happened to that one chick who was killed off a few seasons ago. The show is well known for killing off main characters, like, maybe have some foresight?

Also, I'm glad they're dead. Makes me want to catch up on the new season.

Only person they can't really kill off is Daryl, and I think they have been working towards that (trying to mute his character and push him to the background so it's easier to kill him off eventually).

I think there would be a party the day Rick died, but not sure if they would ever do that either.

Kinda wanted rick to die and Carl to take over, but oh well.

I feel like it's The Glenn dumpster scenario all over again.

Either it's the set up for the whisperers and he got bit by a person, not zombie. Or he's immune, and the story will deviate from the comics and pursue a cure for zombie disease story.

Or they simply are killing off the second most important character on the show in the lamest way possible.

Honestly I stopped watching after the prison arc because the show kept going on and on without a clear end in sight. You know, every good story comes to and end, but this one looks like it wants to keep going until nobody cares anymore.

Why should it ever have to end? The comics keep going with more story why can't a show do the same? And in the case of every story comes to an end, this show is about people living in the zombie apocalypse so wouldn't the end be when they die and not some arbitrary set ending?

Nah, in the article he said he was expecting to stay for a long time. This suprised him, especially after he bought a house. He was expecting to have a stable income.

tbh, shows like these do this kind of stuff to keep the twists secret. Harper's Island was even worse since, other than two actors, nobody knew that their character was going to die until they started shooting that particular episode.
