It's like "Oh you work, well you only do that to get money and you only get money to attract a mate so you can have sex."
"Oh you Like fishing, well you only fish because your instinct thinks fishing will lead to sex."

It makes no sense.

If it was just sex we all desired everyone would just go "to heck with it" and hire hookers. Hardly anyone does.

Meanwhile all do all sorts of stuff. Walking dogs, posting on here, helping neighbours moved house, watching bad TV, feeding the homeless at Christmas, repairing your dad's broken bookcase.

How is all that driven by sex?

90% sounds like hyperbole to me, but you might be surprised how much human initiative is propelled by the desire for eventual access of higher status and intimate comforts (which includes sex).

It would, however, be more accurate to say that 90% of human activity is in some way connected to the eventual desire to pursue physical intimacy. Humanity is not only a predominately visual species when it comes to attractions; we're also very tactile.
