Other than Pokemon, my brother started buying anime DVDs in 2001 such as Tenchi Muyo and Sakura Wars.

The earliest anime I remember seeing was G-Force way back in the day. Closely followed by Voltron, Speed Racer, and Robotech.

I didn't really distinguish it from western cartoons until Saturday Anime on Sci-fi channel was airing movies like Vampire Hunter D, Casshern, and Iria: Zerium.

My first experience to anime was back in the day of the 1980s when my family had HBO and HBO had aired the butchered version of Nausicaa at the time.

Then in the mid late 1990s, I was up late at night on Saturday and lo and behold TNT had on Robot Carnival and Vampire Hunter D.

Nowadays I just watch Akira and the original Ghost in the Shell anime movie.

I was at a friends house in the 4th grade and saw an episode of DBZ on toonami. Back with the original Ocean Group dub. That dub only went up to the appearance of the Ginyu Force, but it permanently changed my childhood.

Somehow I managed to find this local comic book shop that had those shitty vhs fansubs with the ridiculously translated cursing. You could rent them for a few bucks a tape. My parents took me there every friday for a couple years. I watched all of DB, DBZ, and GT and the movies and such.

From there I got into Gundam, and eventually Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop and such and never looked back. I also found some places in Chinatown where you could buy fansub tapes and all that.

To this day, I have no idea how I found all these places to get anime. We only had one computer with crappy dial-up internet and none of my family or friends were into it like I was. I have no memory of how I found all this stuff. I wish I knew :/

Inuyasha and Sailor Moon were a decent start, but I didn't really get into anime until I watched Haruhi Suzumiya. After Haruhi it was Clannad, K-ON, and Azumanga Daioh as my biggest influences for what I enjoy today.

Used to watch stuff like Voltron and Grandizer as a kid.

But as I got older, Ninja Scroll was an eye opener for me. And then DBZ on Toonami. Then I started watching stuff like Trigun, Hellsing, Evangelion, and the rest is history.

I watched DBZ and all that shit as a kid. Didn't start recognizing anime as anime until seeing Paranoia Agent on Adult Swim sometime in highschool (still my favorite show). Didn't like anything but that and a couple of the other more trippy, serious shows/movies. Then years later I had a friend that got me super into it anime of all kinds by forcing me to watch JoJo and Bobobobobobobobobobobo or wtfever it was (the one with the nose hairs).
