Current Events > 'The Mummy' is quite possibly the best Tom Cruise film since 'Rain Man'.

Superb acting, concise, engrossing plot, tense atmosphere, innovative visuals, and brilliantly choreographed fight sequences.

Watch out, MCU. The Dark Universe is off to an excellent start.

Dracula Unbound was supposed to be the first movie but it bombed and then they just pretended it didn't exist. then they said The Mummy is the start. it bombed too. the next one will again be "the start"

I enjoyed it. Most of what I actually wanted from "Action movie based on a 100 year-old horror movie". It was a great movie IMO for the first act until they got back to London.

Didn't like Russell Crowe in it though. Think his entire actual role shouldn't have been in there (Like him narrating at the start was fine)

I like how you've committed to the bit so completely, we deserve a better class of troll around here.

I would have chosen a more controversial movie though, one that has people on the fence even a little, not one that was less entertaining and was arguably worse than the scorpion king.

4/50+ is an incredibly bad batting average. Even then, the only 'classic' out of those would be Rain Man. Edge of Tomorrow is fairly recent, Minority Report was divisive, and Mission Impossible II is pretty much unmentioned outside of cheesy action fans.

If you are going to mention his good performances, you really should at least mention Interview With A Vampire. Feelings of the movie aside, he really hit it out of the park with his performance.

Does the Danielle Radcliffe Frankenstein count in this? Anyways, that Dracula movie was such a freaking disappointment. And I have no interest in this new Mummy.

Though it's only because of it I just realized the Brendan Fraser mummies were supposed to be based on the Boris Karloff one. Huh.

IIRC, Dracula Untold, Frankenstein, and The Mummy are all seperate reboots of the Hammer Horror films.

Weird that none of them are, you know, horror films.

Edit: Universal Classic Monsters, not Hammer Horror. Though, since they use pretty much the same cast, I guess it doesn't really make a different anyway.
