Same shit, different year. It seems for every step taken forward they take several back.That's why I buy them a year later at a much lower price. I still haven't bought 2K17 for example and I'm in no rush.

2K17 was pretty fun. I actually got quite a bit of enjoyment out of that one.

However, the AI in 2K18 has completely regressed to being only slightly better than '13. And I mean slightly.

There's also just not that much in the way of improvements and despite it playing like '17 on the controller, the overall game just feels worse. It's unbearably slow.

Good to know. I haven't watched wrestling in years but did play 2K17 with my nephew and thought it was pretty good. My kids liked it as well but I thought about just getting 2K18 since I knew it was coming out soon. I probably won't get it and may just get 2K17 instead.

Sacked it off last year because they didn't have a story for Brock(lame reason I know). The game still sold though so I guess they didn't even bother this year because it means less work for them.

So after playing it a bit more, I actually like it a bit. It's still clearly got some issues, but the overall game is balanced better and there are some decent new features. Once again, mostly with the CAW stuff and the rest of the creation suite.

I'm uploading a couple of matches right now. One that showcases a good solid match with Rollins and one with Ambrose that shows off some issues from the previous two games as well as some new ones such as walking into the turnbuckle. Let me know if you want to see specific match types, entrances, etc.

Or any features from CAW or whatever.

Also, the videos will play at <~ 30 frames, but it runs at good constant 60 FPS. The videos won't be able to show you how smooth the game actually runs.

I want to play it, but I've got my gaming monitor propping up my damaged laptop which I've been too lazy, cheap, etc, to get repaired.

Just played my second 8-man match and I can verify that refs constantly not seeing the pin is a thing. Even when there's only 2-3 people in the ring.

I loved the DoR games... So much better than Smackdown... I hate that the shittiest series is the one that survived.

I actually haven't tried that yet. I can do a quick match if you want. This was one of the things they were talking about improving pre-release, as 2K17 brought it back but it wasn't that good. I do know that in moveset creation, you can pick moves related to cars and semis.

Yeah, chatting is in career mode. So YT's giving me issues right now and I think it's on their end.

But it's pretty similar to last year, just expanded by quite a bit more. Last year, it all took place in one corridor and there were a couple rooms you could go into, like Stephanie's office. However, this year they added an entire parking lot area and you can go further down the corridor and there might be some more stuff that way that I didn't get to see(Taker beat me before I could get that far; reversals are no longer a cakewalk). The furthest I got was a breakroom of sorts, that was entirely new. Had a bunch of kitchen type stuff. I'm not sure if you can use it all as a weapon or something, but a lot of it you can't seem to pick up. There is a slow cooker you can throw on the floor and I think you might be able to use that as a weapon.

There's a bit more interaction overall with some of the items and such you'll see, but not quite on the level of HCtP or SD!2.

It's an improvement over last year, for whatever that's worth. It actually seems like it could be fun, aside from a few things:

1) It has a scripted intro; I don't know if there's more than one or not

2) Can't change the stage, so you can only ever be backstage at RAW

3) The AI; not a whole lot can help that. The AI is a lot dumber now(still not nearly as bad as '13), but the game itself has been balanced to the point that matches in general are a bit harder and more fun.

I actually sort of miss Lawler and JBL, because at least they're VA's sounded somewhat enthused and humorous, even if they were a bit lifeless.

The new guys are the same old boring and lifeless without any sort of inherent charm.

And then there's Michael Cole, of course.

I don't see them ever going back to the Smackdown! days. They tried with WWE All Stars but that didn't sell enough for them. I admit I enjoyed it though.

The SD! games were just natural video games that existed in a time where the scope of these "realistic" games just wasn't possible due to limited animation and the like. And also when WWE itself was more edgy and in some ways, video gamey. The games just captured the tone of what WWE was at the time. But that's changed ever since '09-ish.

With that said, I also prefer the SD! games of old. The new games do have quite a few things to like, though.

I still need to play that. Pretty sure I picked it up ages ago, mostly because the art style roided the fuck out of the wrestlers. Even Hogan looks more juiced up than when he was on the juice.

One of my favourite wrestling games ever is WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game. All Stars was as close as I was going to get to that these days unfortunately.
