The 3DS with 4 games seems like the better deal, but is there a chance that 3DS games are going to start going up in price? I don't know if 3DS games will stop being produced any time soon, but if they're not, I'd love to have a Switch, especially since my current backlog has gone way down.

Any thoughts?

Get the N3DSXL.

It has a much larger library than the Switch and Pokemon UltraSun/UltraMoon are right around the corner.

Pick up the Switch later.

The Switch. Nothing on the 3DS is that great. If you haven't played Breath of the Wild, you have to get that too.

Have both and play switch more right now. But 3ds has a TON of good games on it. Playing Metroid Samus Returns right now.

As for prices hard to tell. 3ds is easy to hack I believe and use flash cards on it. Plus fakes from China will be all over and effect prices like they do with DS and GBA games.

Like if you get a 3DS, you'll have a lot of good older games to play, but you're going to start missing out on the spankin new games coming out that are probably going to be way better than anything 3DS will have going forward. Plus if they ever do make the Switch the exclusive Nintendo console, and drop 3DS, your 3DS resale value goes into the toilet.

I got a 3ds have a lot of older DS games on it
maybe 4 or 5 3ds games
i'd say the switch, it's just more comfertable to play for long periods

Thanks for the input so far! I own both, and as far as upcoming games, Mario+Rabbids, Xenoblade 2, Metroid Prime, Fire Emblem, Octopath, and SMT.

The switch, but only because I'm sick to death of Nintendo putting all the best games on handheld only.

Then I stand by my original post.

You have a Wii U so you have access to Mario Kart 8 and Breath of the Wild.
Besides Rabbids, Mario Odyssey, and Xenoblade 2, none of the other games you are interested in will release anytime soon...

Nintendo will likely discontinue the 3DS next year or so.

They are discontinuing Miiverse, but its icon will remain on the 3DS.

The Switch is looking good these days, and if youd seen how often I shit all over it here in the past, youd appreciate that more.

but you cannot have internet friends or, ya know, actually use team strategy and communication on the Switch.

At first I was 99% leaning towards Switch, now that I'm realizing a lot of the games I want won't be out for a while, I could go either way.

I'll probably go with a 3DS for now, unless there are some sick Black Friday bundles and I can get both.

3DS has a huge VC lineup. The Switch, on the other hand... we don't even know if it's ever going to get VC.

Just be aware that only the New 3DS can do SNES VC

A load of not that great games. If you're a huge Nintendo fanboy, then yeah you don't want to miss out on them. The ones he listed would come with it, meh. I'd say all of them are worse than Breath of the Wild or probably Odyssey.

Basically at this point if you missed out on all those games, missed out on some for years, why not wait a little more when the prices will certainly fall even lower?
