While theyre both offbeat choices, both bring some unique mechanics to the fray. Nappa can summon Saibamen to help him out mid-fight, with his Break Cannon being his Level 3 Super. As for Ginyu, he can summon members of the Ginyu Force like Recoome to aid him in battle, with his Body Change technique acting as his Level 3 Super. If it hits, the Ginyu player swaps place with the opponents character, health-bars included. So if you were playing a low-health Ginyu against a full-health Yamcha, a successful Body Change would get you out of the danger zone, while your opponent would be close to death.

3v3 team fighter that looks more like the anime than any DB game ever and being worked on by ArcSys. It's like if you brought DBZ to life

Someone on the game board suggested that if he misses it should be an auto-kill and he trades bodies with a frog.

I mean it makes sense because it seems like too good of a comeback mechanic for a game like this to basically have 4 characters instead of 3 on your team.

It's an actual honest-to-god DBZ fighting game made by a developer that knows how to make good fighting games. We've never had that before, that's why people are excited.

I remember when I was younger, me and my friends would talk about how cool it would be if there was a DBZ game designed like a Street Fighter game, then like a MVC game when those started coming out

It wasn't until much later we learned about Hyper Dimension, and then Super Dragonball Z was sorta close too, but they were not the fan servicey, crazy fighter mashups we were imagining

Definitely won't be banned, considering the rest of the genre. Other games have straight-up resurrection abilities (and this likely will too--it's probably what getting the seventh Dragon Ball in a match does)

Oh, shit, I didn't realize that was in it.

But with the revival mechanic, everyone has access to it. I can see Ginyu on every team as he's gonna be a massive problem to deal with in keeping players off balance so they don't get body swapped with.

Well, we haven't seen what the move actually looks like yet in-game, it may have a long startup time or be very tough to setup in a combo, plus it's a level 3 super, so I don't think it will be as meta-dominating as you might think. And I'd assume that if the other guy has three meter when he gets swapped, that he could swap back if he can connect with the move.

As for the Dragon Balls, what we know so far is that hitting a 10-19 hit combo activates the one-star ball, 20-29 the two-star, etc. This counts for both players, so whoever gets that final ball activated gets the benefit even if they didn't do the rest. We don't know what the effect is but it's most likely resurrection, since that's what the balls are most often used for in the series.

Im imagining setups where people try to intentionally swap whoever they perceive to be a threat on their opponents team just to deny them their use

Just gonna have to one-shot him with Android 16 who is also likely to be picked a ton

Ginyu's swap isn't even as ridiculous as 16's instakill. Not to mention the X-factor which everyone has access to is still the largest equalizer since it's so powerful. Tien has that 80% damage move also.

This game is about the absurdly powerful nonsense that defines DBZ. It's definitely going to be embraced as part of the game, and we probably haven't seen anything close to the craziest stuff yet.
