Especially since nowadays you can get sued or arrested over anything. Once upon a time, a good Samaritan could grab those little hoodlums and toss them out on their asses but, if one tried that today, he'd be arrested.

Well, not so much ignoring as it is not wanting to get involved. Plus, I'm not entirely sure what BK expected from onlookers. A stern talking-to isn't exactly going to do much here. If you're trying to stop bullying, it needs to come from places of authority.

If I saw the kid get bullied, I would do nothing.

There is a way to react to this situation that not many people think of. Most people feel like they have to confront the aggressors and therefor do nothing. All you have to do is interact with the victim and get them to distance themselves from the situation i.e. ask them if they need help moving to another table.

In this situation the young kids would probably not start anything with you if they are ignored while you are helping the bullied kid.

The kids were obviously acting, the fat bully ruined it by being all awkward. I would have had the same reaction as that one guy "just gimme my fucking burger". Don't want to be part of your publicity stunt nor do I need to be preached to over a .99 cent patty.
