Backstory: Last time I went to shave, my shaver wasn't getting the job done. I hadn't cleaned it in a while, so I figured all it needed was a cleaning. Simple enough.

Wrong.

First off, my bathroom sink is prone to clogging, so I try to empty shaved hair into the toilet instead, so I opened the shaver and emptied it into the toilet. Again, this should have been easy... but I was drunk and I was hitting it too hard and I knocked the entire blade panel (it's one of the triple circular blade models) into the toilet. Ugh. Not the first time I've done something stupid like this. My immediate response was to obviously was the fuck out of it, which I decided to do in the kitchen sink and with dish detergent. This was going well, but again, I hit the apparatus too hard and knocked the blades and shields out. I had removed the drain cover because it always pisses me off and half the components went down the drain. I shut the water off immediately, but they could have already been lost forever.

I didn't want to spend the money on a new shaver if I didn't have to. I waited a few days and literally refused to use my kitchen sink (I even left a big, bold sharpie note to remind me, which I definitely needed because I forgot several times. Today, I borrowed a few things from work, but more on that later.

To further complicate matters, when I shined a flashlight down the drain, I found a piece of silverware, fork or spoon (couldn't tell) also trapped down there, AND IN THE WAY!). If I was going to get my shaver components out, I would need to get that piece of silverware out first... It was wedged in deep, and I had no idea how long it had been down there... (turns out it was a spoon)

Flash forward to today... long story short, electric razor is fully function and missing nothing. My mission was a success, but it certainly felt like it was going to be a failure.

First, I had to utilize my great grandfather's ceremonial mason sword. I didn't want to do this because I didn't want to damage it. It's an heirloom. However, I had no choice. Ultimately, the sheath of it, which was thicker and more durable than the sword itself was necessary to bend the spoon in the pipe and ultimately shake it from its wedged position so that it was vertical-ish.

Next, liquids down the drain to help dislodge the spoon. Dish detergent, shaver lube and a little bit of bleach. Yeah I know I shouldn't mix cleaning chemicals but whatever >_>. I don't know if any of these things helped, but I dribbled them down before I even remembered the sword, so this may have not been helpful in hindsight \_()_/

The items I borrowed from work? cube-shaped magnets and yo-yo string. Once I got the spoon dislodged (and everything already mentioned would have been unnecessary if not for that fucking spoon), the stringed magnets were enough to get the spoon out, and then the razor components, which thankfully were all reachable and had not been washed all the way down. I had feared the worst on that.

Everything that was in the drain has been cleaned and because the shaver components were in the toilet before the drain, they will be spending some time in boiling water as well as being cleaned again before the device is reassembled.

tl;dr - I fucked up and in a comedy of errors, some pieces of my electric shaver went down an already partially obstructed drain and I thought I'd have to buy a new device, but through resourcefulness, I was able to get the pieces all back.

Edit: Opening up the pipes was not an option. Tried this and it wasn't set up for it to be doable.
