in the past year countless shows have debuted female presidents. even the asteroid show on CBS, Salvation which aired this summer. and on the arrowverse, both in the main universe and in Supergirl, they have female presidents. a whole bunch of tv writers thought she was gonna win, and wanted to get in on that action.

Apparently, the resolution of last year's South Park season was centered around Hillary winning, since it seemed like a sure thing.

But as we know, Hillary lost a sure-win, just as Ash Ketchum lost his in the Kalos League the same year.

Did Ash ever end up winning a non-filler league?

What's wrong with shows having female presidents?

I'm not seeing the problem.

Nope.

He won the Battle Frontier, but that wasn't exactly a league of its own.

Having a female president does not mean they thought Hillary would win. It just means that now is a time where that does not seem so far fetched.

Female presidents have been a thing since before she was announced. The next step after black presidents.

i dont think op is suggesting there was a problem

he is simply noting the timing suggests the timing is suggestive of an effort to use current events to boost viewership rates

i think the appropriate response is 'ok'

It's going to be interesting to see how Trump is portrayed in fiction now.

I don't think his portyal will ever be positive even if he never became president. Look at South Park's episode where the candian president is Trump.

Both The Simpsons and Family Guy were relentless with Bush (and Clinton, to be fair), and it's a shame that both shows are shit now, because I would have loved to see how they tackled President Trump.

So far Family Guy has namedropped Trump once, and Peter on a fake talk show said "something or other (don't remember) is as likely as the Republican Party accomplishing something." They're already dipping their toes in.

Family guy did use the footage of Trump saying "grab them by the pussy" in an episode, iirc. I don't remember the context tho.

That too. They made a joke about Peter being on the bus too.

Remember how animaniacs despite being a kids show never had a problem poking fun at the president and politics? I would love if the reboot happens that it still does that. Don't be afraid to make fun of Trump too.

A sizable amount of people will be outraged and pretend politics seeping into entertainment is an entirely new tragedy.

The American public has always wanted to have a black and a female president....but not one right after the other. Diversity has to ease itself in.

one time a show had both. I think it was on fox, in the mid 90's. there was this super hero show called like The Beetle or something. and the president in it was female and black.
