My current chair is kind of falling apart, and I only got it about two years ago. Really looking for something fit for long hours of sitting that will support my back AND neck whether I'm typing at my desk or playing games facing my TV. Does B8 have a chair guru?

Also I'm seated in a cheap plastic chair bolted into concrete for the next little bit. It is not particularly comfortable.

Sounds like I'm not the only person who could benefit from a recommendation. >_>

I have a DXRacer and it is literal heaven

https://www.dxracer.com/us/en-us/product/1/office_chairs/classic_series/office_chair_oh-ce120-nr/

This is the one I have and my god is it incredible. It doesn't matter if I'm in the chair for an hour or 10 hours, it's just as firm and comfortable. It's perfection.

They have a ton of models, and this one is kind of an odd one out. It's shaped a little differently than most you've probably seen before and leather, while the others are all fabric.

The leather was KILLER on me for a few weeks after I first got it since i am soft like baby. The bottoms of my thighs were very sore from it for awhile. But now that I'm broken into it it's amazing. If I were to start fresh with one, I'd probably get one of the fabric ones though, since I usually prefer fabric over leather in general. If you are good with leather in general though then the Classic is great. And one of the better ones for heavier guys. The differences between models are mostly based on your height and weight.

Some would balk at the price of being like $500 but I think that's kinda silly. It's normal to spend hundreds or even thousands on any normal piece of furniture like a couch or whatever. For nerds that spend all day their computer chairs, it's well worth the price. I used to use executive style chairs that were often $150-200 and I'd never go back to those now, I certainly wouldn't want those cheaper style chairs you find at staples or whatever. I often sit in those chairs when I'm there just to see how they feel now and they are complete garbage.

I'm sure their competitors like Maxnomic are fine too, though I don't think they are that much cheaper.

I sit in one of these:

As Leafeon suggested, I just went to Staples and sat in a bunch of them, and this was by far the most comfortable.

I nearly did this a while ago. The truth is, I think I would benefit greatly from having a standing desk, and I know I'll need to move soon, so I'm thinking I might just play with my set-up when that happens.

Thanks for posting, everybody!

Definitely leaning towards the DXRacer based on what I've seen here and through my own research. Only thing giving me pause is a lot of folks out there seem to think it's inferior to the ergonomic office chairs out there like Herman Miller... but looking into those it sounds like those chairs are all designed to force you to sit correctly, not really fit for lounging like I want to do when I'm at home.

godspeed

those serious ergonomic chairs get real pricy too, and yeah they force you to sit a certain way. i wouldnt mind one for the office but when I'm home just relaxing, that just isn't what i want.

god a standing desk sounds awful. it's like those herman miller chairs except you have to fucking stand! why would you do that to yourself? what happens when you get tired? how are you supposed to fall asleep gaming at 2am with this???

theres a guy in my office that does that and i have no idea why. he does not look comfortable or appear to be benefiting posture wise at all. i have no idea what the supposed benefits are but this just looks like hell

Hey Cly, I've been doing a bit more research and found out that folks are typically advised to buy a DXRacer that fits their body type. Unfortunately, I'm a bit too large for the classic (vertically, not horizontally, thankfully, lol) but some of the stuff I'm reading about the other kinds isn't very appealing. I've read they generally have firm, flat-ish seats and backs and, like I said I don't want, force you to sit a certain way. Any insight on the matter, as a DXRacer owner?

I'd go to a store and try some out. Seems dumb to spend $500 on a chair without sitting in it first

It's hard to say since I've only extensively sat in the Classic. I did try out some Formula chairs at a local memory express, and they felt pretty good, but the size was way too small for me. It's definitely a little more structured than the classic. It's hard to say for sure since I've only tried ones too small, but I think if you have the properly sized chair there'd still be room to slouch. I've seen a lot of streamers with those chairs and they look pretty damn relaxed.

I'd suggest trying to find a local store in your area that might have a couple on display you could try. It's usually specialty big box computer part stores that do that. Memory Express is the name to look for in my city of Edmonton but you'd probably have something else where you are.

I'd keep a bar stool around or something. But fall asleep gaming? That concept always befuddles me. I've never fallen asleep anywhere other than in a bed. If you're falling asleep, why would you continue to play?
